nightnurse30 - Thank you for the info on hematoma's. While I'm waiting for a response from Victims of Crime, I'm going to schedule one more appointment at the Lied Ambulatory Clinic for another check-up to make sure it isn't growing. That will give me some peace of mind.
postconcussion - Yes, that's almost exactly how i feel when it happens. It's really hard to explain. I suddenly feel really light-headed/dizzy and feel like I'm going to just pass out. Then I start panicking and it pretty much takes over me, I feel like I'm going crazy and I'm losing control of my thoughts. This usually lasts like 20-30 min. I usually try going for a walk, or getting away from everyone in the house [it's pretty hard when you have 2 kids and a fiance and 2 room mates] and calming myself down. After it goes away, I still don't feel 100% normal. Good to know I'm not the only one that goes through this, and it sucks that it happens to us! Mark in Idaho - Your right, it should be standard protocol. But you know what, the people in the ER don't even seem like they are too concerned about you. It seems like they are just trying to get you in and out...at least the hospitals here in Las Vegas are like that. When they release you from the ER they actually refer you to another clinic for a follow-up, but if you don't have insurance you have to pay $50 for the visit...I'm filling out the paperwork for Victims of Crime and when they approve me, I'm going to find a doctor that specializes in this kind of injury and really cares. |
