I was brought to this site due to a search about neuroscience products I was considering taking, which led me to a thread here. Coincidentally, I have had a head injury in the past, although I am currently being treated for other issues that my Dr tells me is my main root causes.
I have done all kinds of testing to find out the cause of my symptoms I have had for almost 30 years ago. I have had doctors tell me that my Psych symptoms are the cause of one or more of the following : the head injury, Chronic Lyme disease which has infected my brain, high levels of Mercury and other heavy metals, parasites, illness from mold exposure, a new diagnosis called CCSVI (Chronic Cerebral Spinal Venous Insufficiency (where the veins in the neck have narrowed to the point of not getting enough oxygen in and out of the brain), Food Sensitivies like Gluten and more, Leaky Gut, Adrenal Imbalances, Intestinal problems, and more. All these multiple diagnoses have left me dizzied, in an attempt to deal with all the supposed causes. I have even begun to question whether they are being honest with me, or making up all these diagnoses so they can make more money off of me. It's also mentally and emotionally and financially overwhelming to try to deal with all of these, in the complete protocol I am given. Since my main symptoms are Psych (not just depression, but mental confusion and more), I become even more stressed, confused, agitated and anxiety-driven when trying to deal with all these supposed "conditions" I have. So my first question is, are any of the PCS people here familiar with any of the other conditions I have mentioned, or actually have them yourself ? Or is the discussion her pretty much exclusively related to head injuries ? |

Sounds like you are having a miserable time
![]() This particular forum deals with traumatic brain injury and post-concussion syndrome, but you might find info on some of the other conditions in other NeuroTalk and/or PsychCentral boards.

I have not seen the conditions you mentioned discussed on this board. It does not mean we can not be supportive and helpful with your symptoms.
There are plenty of people who have problems with mental confusion. We have lots to ways to cope and work-around these symptoms. Tell us more about your symptoms and maybe we can help you.

Thanks guys.
Mark, I have almost every neuro-psychiatric symptom imaginable. The list would seem endless, probably pages long. My brain and thoughts are a constant chaotic mess. Racing thoughts, confusion, disorganized thoughts, trouble processing things, remembering things, concentrating on things, organizing things, irrational fears and OCD, repetitive and obsessive thoughts, depression, irritability, agitated, restlessness, insomnia, headaches, anxiety/nervousness/panic/terror feelings, socially inept, trouble retrieving proper words/vocabulary, difficulty forming sentences, stuttering, mental delays in processing, brain fog, rapid sudden and drastic mood swings, was diagnosed as schizophrenic by Psych doctors. Does this sound like a classic case of PCS, or does it sound like it's mainly from another source. By the way, does this site not allow you to edit your own posts ? Every other forum I've used gives you that option, but I don't see it here. |

Chandler,
Do you have anybody who can observe you sleeping? Most of the symptoms you list can be caused by chronic severe sleep apnea as it ravages your brain from night after night of oxygen deprivation. My father suffered a very slow mental deterioration due to untreated central sleep apnea. He exhibited almost all of your symptoms as his dementia progressed. Do you try to eat a nutritional diet? You also have a long list of symptoms of depression. I suffered from many of those symptoms until I was treated by a psychiatrist who got my nutrition improved. Strong B vitamins were the key. Have your blood tested for folate, B12, D, hormones including Thyroid, DHEA, and all the sex hormones. This will be a start.

Chandler,
A daughter of a friend of mine has Lyme disease and it's very difficult to detect and treat. However, her symptoms has gotten to the point where she's chemically sensitive to many things and has affected her life entirely. So if I were you, I'd get that detected FIRST before anything else. Then get that treated which may help with other symptoms. PCS in my eyes is a whole other different animal. |
