Default e-readers..nook or kindle -- anyone use them?

Nook or Kindle -- Do you think they are as offensive to the eyes as the computer? Do you know much about them...one better than the other?

I'm interested in getting one...maybe santa will bring it --i've been a good girl.

Default Re: nook

I have the first Nook put out. It is fantastic, and it is the one device that I actually learned how to operate. I hate techy stuff, but this one I am hooked on. I take it where ever I go, and the cover has room for cards and money. The only thing I don't like about it, is that the surface of the reader does get small tiny scratches on it. They don't show while you read, but you can see them at an angle. If you purchase one of these, get a see through cover for it. They did not make them when I first got the nook. I chose that one, because I didn't need the ones with apps, or all the extras. The new nooks have color, if you read magazines, or study maps. The resolution for maps and pictures is not that good on my origional Nook. The new ones have higher resolution, and offer more but are more complicated to use. ginnie

I don't have an actual Kindle, but reading Kindle and other e-books on my iPhone was the first type of reading I was able to tolerate. The smaller screen size seemed to help since I didn't have to move my eyes so much.

I have a Nook, the early black and white model. It is great unless the e-book is poorly formatted with no margins and small type/bad fonts. My first read was Tom Sawyer. A difficult task with the southern dialect but a worthwhile challenge for my brain. I have not purchased any e-books. I use the Gutenberg Project for free E-books.

[I do purchase books from Barnes and Noble. They do have free books there also. Had not heard of Guten berg project for free books before, thank you. I also have had no format trouble, or font trouble with the Nook reader with the books I have purchased. ginnie

Nook gal. Seems to be easier on the eyes to me as well. Love the convenience.

I would HIGHLY recommend the original version of the kindle. It is black and white, and doesn't produce ANY glare. (It was originally made this way so it was able to be read easily even in direct sunlight).

I was able to spend a great deal of time reading when I first was recovering, as opposed to being on the computer, because it did not have a glare component. I was also able to adjust the font size and number of words on the page so that it was comfortable for my eyes.

I have really bad light sensitivity, so the original kindle was the best route for me. The other one's I've tried through friends and they just make my brain hurt lol. So I'll keep with the original.

Heart Love my Kindle

I can actually read with my Kindle without getting a headache. No glare or distortion in the screen. Looks like paper only better. If I need to refresh my memory easy back and forth page turning with almost no effort. I also love that it's easy to highlight and make notes where I want them for later reference.

I've had it for almost 10 months now and I'm very pleased with it. It goes where I go

I love my black and white Kindle. Books are inexpensive and I get them from Amazon and from a book club.
