Default when to take vitamin supplements, fish oil, etc..

hey,

I'm experiencing headaches-sometimes pulsating feeling with pain sometimes dull pressure, but I discover that when I apply pressure to the region which is aching, It aches more, I'm not sure what is the reason for this- possibly due to mTBI three and half months ago. (No other symptoms)

headaches are not steady, I think they started to lessen, but still debilitating.

I am taking 25mg amitriptilyne before bad time for 2 months.

I was taking fish oils in order to help headaches but since I see no improvements I gave up taking them. But today, I decided to start take fish oil pills again, but I'm not sure when to take them with amitriptilyne or not and when to take vitamin pills, what is the proper timing for taking these supplements?

What about beta carotene, soy beans and gama linelenic acid? Should I use them to prevent headaches, If so when I should do take them?

Are there any other recommendations of you for headaches.

By the way, I'm planning to wean off amitriptilyne because It simply does not work but makes me sedate, I sleep a lot. How I need to give up taking it?

thanks in advance.

The general rule (but there can be exceptions), is to take oily fat soluble vitamins with food. This helps with absorption.

Vitamin B12 should be taken alone separately, on an empty stomach. Most people take it when they wake up in the morning about an hour before breakfast.

Most Bcomplex works best taken with breakfast... as they are energizing and may increase urine output. You don't want more urine at night-time.

Some things like acetyl carnitine have to be broken up during the day...for better absorption. The same goes for calcium. Lipoic acid also needs empty stomach, but you did not list these specifically and I offer just in case you ever use them.

Podcast,

The value of many vitamins and supplements is long term. The short term improvements are very limited. For brain health issues, two months is a good length of time before starting to see improvements. Nutrition should become a lifestyle for those of us with compromised brains. No quick fixes with the brain, except for some strong meds for specific symptoms.
