Default Juicing/Detox

I just bought a juicer and on Monday I want to start a two week juicing plan. The goal is to detoxify my body and flush out harmful critters that may be harming my recovery.

I watched the movie, fat, sick and nearly dead and the guy who did the movie suffered from Uticaria and he was able to rid himself of his medications. They also had a lady who suffered severe migranes and since she started her headaches have gone away.

I'm thinking if I can do this perhaps it can lesson the amount of headaches. I'm not sure.

Has anyone else tried this method? If so input would be appreciated.

It's going to be hard I will say because being depressed I have turned to food. I guess there are worse things to turn to..lol

I'm a little nervous about how my head will do. I cant see pumping my body full if vitamins can be a bad thing..right????

I have, many times actually, but with minimal results, sad to say. Any benefit tended to be short-lived.

I think therapies like detoxing can very much help people whose problems are not mediated by a brain injury in the first place. Those who have TBI/PCS are fighting basic hardware issues, which no amount of "software" fixes can overcome.

The detox is helpful but then one needs to establish a game plan for continuation. Juicing is primarily a gut detox with some liver detox added in. It is a great start. But, your injured brain will still need follow-up nutrition and avoidance of reintroduction of toxins.

Good for you.

btw, If you have access to black grapes (sold at Costco when available), it make a fabulous juice. If you got a masticating juicer (Champion is one model) buy bananas when they are on sale, peal them and freeze them. Then put them in it in masticate/puree mode. Out comes banana ice cream. My grandkids love it. Freeze watermelon then juice it for an icy smoothie.

Have fun.......

My plan after the detox is to not reintroduce the toxins into my system. Caffeine is my biggest enemy..lol.

I do realize if I go back to my old eating habits that the effects will be reversed. I'm trying to build a good platform in which to start a healthier eating plan.

Prior to injury I was very health oriented. I worked out everydayand ate really well and was basically at a really good place. Since my injury and being inactive I have gained weight, become depressed and anxious. I'm hoping the detox will help me deal naturally with the depression and anxiety. I admit I have developed quiete the sweet tooth as well. I think as a way to feel better. Well we all know how counter productive that is. Prior to injury I quit smoking after twenty plus years.... (huge toxin). It's been a huge struggle since I wasn't able to work out and use my coping skills anymore. I am starting therapy as well. I'm hoping with all this in place I will come out a better, stronger me. I feel sitting here and not trying is like giving up. I dont want to give up.

My New Years resolution is...It's all about me.... I'm coming first. Mom's are great at putting their needs last. I was told I have to rethink how I approach my life... It'll be hard but I have to...

I've been having a lot of juice over the last few months, as a way of getting more antioxidants into my system following advice and some good looking evidence that I've found myself. In particular "brightly and dark coloured fruits" are apparently good.

I have improved quite a lot during this period - of course it could be nothing to do with my diet, but the evidence seems to suggest it could be helping, and it does give you a feeling like you have some degree of control over recovery which I think is psychologically helpful.

Plus of course juice tastes good. Good luck!
