Today I realized I'm finally healed. It took me 10 months to heal this much. I feel the healing is finally at 100% complete. I even have my memory back.
I just wanted to take a minute to share this for some that may be at month 4 or so and wondering if it will never end. I was there! Happy New Year. All the best to you all. |

That is great news! I love reading posts like this. I'm at 4 1/2 months and hope I can post something like this in the future. At 3 months, I thought I was close to being over this, but then things fell apart again at 4 months. It's such a crazy rollercoaster ride! Happy new year to you and congratulations!

i'm six months post-concussion and i'd say im pretty much fully healed as well! i think often on this forum we don't hear about success stories because by the time someone is all better they are no longer interested in posting on this forum. it's something we want to put behind us. cheers to full recovery! (it certainly is possible and in fact the most common outcome)

As full recovery is the goal, it should also be combined with maintaining such good recovery. This will entail making choices about risky behaviors/activities.
There are plenty of sports and other activities that have a much less risk of head trauma that those than have been the cause of many concussions to people on this board. I hope you all can find safe activities to be involved in.

That is awesome, congratulations ...
I just have a question, well, a few questions for freezerdoor - Right now I seem to have plateaued as far as my recovery goes. Meaning I was getting better for awhile, now I seem to be stuck on the same few symptoms and they don't seem to be getting better. Often I think they are getting worse. I'm wondering if you went through the same stage, if so, how long did it take before it started getting better again? Did you suddenly wake up with absolutely no symptoms or did it happen over a period of time? And last but not least, did you have a full blown brain injury, meaning did you have a positive on your CT or MRI...or was it just a concussion with no bruising/bleeding and such? Sometimes I think that makes a difference of whether you will completely recover or have a good recovery. I think those with just a classic concussion and no bruising, bleeding or tissue damage like me have a better chance of recovering. Correct me if I'm wrong. Be safe, don't hit your head again lol. |

I can't answer about which injuries are worse and its been clear to me that the injuries are hard to determine regardless.
I can tell you that my injuries healed continuously and gradually. There were times when it felt like I plateaud but in reality different symptoms than I was focusing on where changing and healing. Does that make sense? My injury was considered ridiculously minor to the onlookers of the accident but somehow it was a 10 month ordeal that was the hardest physical problem I have ever been through. It changed me for nearly a year! My MRI and cat were normal. No bleeding, etc. Hope that helps. |

By the way, I will certainly be choosing safer activities going forward than I would have before! This is my first real injury. Breaking a leg would have been preferred!
