I found that audiobooks were very good during a period when I was trying to give my brain a decent rest from TV and reading. Seemed to do it good. If you are on iTunes you can download loads of free audiobooks as podcasts from 'Librivox'.

And I've read evidence for focussing on a healthy diet which isn't too fatty, with antioxidants (esp bright and dark fruit and veg) and fish oil being particularly useful. These days I think of eating more as an opportunity to fill myself up with antioxidants than as something I should enjoy, though luckily I like the taste of blueberries ;)

Good luck with everything - one of the predictors of a good recovery is an 'internal locus of control', and you sound like you've got that :)
