About 8 weeks ago, I had a nasty fall off a horse and came off head first, landing on the back /top of my head. Luckily, I was wearing my helmet, so I did not die from the fall, but ended up with what the ER doc referred to as a "moderate concussion". (He also said I should wait a week before riding again... due to lingering symptoms, I still haven't been back riding.)

Since the fall, I've been laying low, doing the care minimum to keep my fmaily and hobby farm going, but spending lots of time in dark, quiet rooms and sleeping lots.

About 3 weeks ago, I started breaking out in an itchy skin rash on my arms and backs of hands and its spread pretty much all over my extremities (not my torso).

The rash has not responded to benedryl, reactine or prescription cortisone creams. I have not changed any of my soaps, shampoo, laundry detergent as I tend towards having reactive skin. I'm very careful.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if its possible it could be related to my fall? My fall seems to be the only thing that was different during that time period, unless Im allergic to resting and doing nothing!

I'm thinking along the lines of some hormonal imbalance... but maybe its a stretch?

Other than my initial ER visit, I have not received any medical care for my concussion, I did see my chiropractor a few times and also my massage therapist. I do have another appointment for my rash since the prescription cream is not working at all.

Any thoughts?

Hey, I've never been a member of a forum so I don't even know if I'm doing this right.

I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had 2 surgeries 9 years ago, but they didn't remove the tumor because it's benign and not growing. I should also mention that I've most likely had this tumor my whole life. I started getting hives all over my body about 3 years before I was diagnosed and they magically stopped about 3 or 4 years after. Wren I had the rash, I had to take reactive every day to prevent the hives, then after a while I could take 1 reactine every 3 days, then a year or 2 after that I didn't have to take reactine at all. I think the hives had something to do with my tumor, or the hydrocephalus caused by the tumor.

I found this thread when I was trying to figure out why I have an itchy rash after I fell really hard on my forearm. There was no bruising or pain after the fall (odd because I fell REALLY hard on concrete) but it got itchy and rashy and now it's 3 weeks later and it's still there. I rub lotion on it alot. What could this be?

I really hope this works because that was alot of typing on my phone.

raucoin,

This thread has been dormant for over 3 years. The posters have not been around except very infrequently.
