Default Question regarding head injury

I have a friend who experienced a head injury ten days ago - he was was out for a few minutes - but never went to the doctor - he is dizzy - very tired - he appear stiff - I asked him if his neck hurt, he looks like someone who has a stiff neck and turns with is whole body - his gait does not look normal for him - his front two teeth have separated - but he will not go to the doctor - he said he received concussions in high school when he played football - he has no insurance - he said if he goes in that is what they are going to tell him - I am afraid it is serious - because he looks so bad -

gh123,

Your friend probably should get checked out even if it is just a cheap clinic. His gait and some other symptoms will show whether he has a problem needing treatment. Even a paramedic or Army medic would have some skills to tell if he should seek emergency care.

What state are you in? Some states have brain injury trust funds that may be able to help him.

In the mean time, if you see him with a serious loss of motor control or balance or struggling to talk clearly, or with a severe head ache, take or get him to an emergency room.

His concussions from high school football complicate his current condition. He may have reached a critical mass of injury that means he needs to take extra care to get any recovery. What is he doing to try to help with recovery?

Let us know how he is doing. He should not be going this alone.
