Default Need something else for anxiety

i am currently on ativan 1 mg twice a day, what i have been doing lately is cutting the 1 mg in half and taking .5 3 times a day because i really want to get off this drug.

I'm going to try and ween myself off of it because 1 mg isnt that high of a dose and the w/d symptoms arent that bad right now. So far today i actually havent taken any ativan, but i feel pretty shaky and really nauseous with a headache.

Things that i've noticed ativan has done to me is slight cognitive impairment, the only difficulties i've ever had were that i would occasionally studder on a word every now and then or when trying to say a word i'd say it wrong or accidentally say a different word. Now that i have been taking ativan for 2 months, it seems to have gotten worse to where i actually have trouble putting words into a sentence sometimes.

This occurred to me yesterday, i had run out of my prescription of ativan and the new prescription had something wrong with it. The pharmacy wouldnt fill it until they got in contact with my dr and he okay'd it to be filled. The problem with that was, my doctor isnt in his clinic on weekends and the clinic is meant for intensive care only on weekends.

I ended up feeling extremely shakey last night and somewhat panicky because i had only taken 1 pill so i went to the ER afraid of w/d symptoms. As i was explaining to the doctor who saw me i explained basically everything thats happened to me as far as, when i was hit and what they diagnosed me with and the date i was diagnosed etc.

I had trouble explaining and felt so panicky that i actually had to take a couple seconds to get my thoughts together to continue explaining. This is the first time i've ever had to take a couple seconds to do that sort of thing. What im wondering is, could it have been possible that the reason i was struggling to do that was because of pure anxiety or symptoms of w/d? Or is Ativan making me worse?

Im going to get off of ativan ASAP and was wondering if anyone else knows of a non benzo that would be really helpful for anxiety, considering the anxiety i'm having is through the roof. Something that wont cause my brain any harm and cognitive problems.

Have you been on a brain vitamin and other supplement regimen? Giving your brain a good nutritional foundation should be helpful. Then, you should be able to use a less powerful drug.

What are your anxiety triggers? Have you been able to do anything to avoid or reduce your exposure to these triggers?

Has your doctor suggested trying propanolol ? It is much easier on the brain.
Does your Blood Pressure rise with your anxiety attacks ?

The only vitamin i've been taking is a daily multivitamin mostly because i havent had the extra money to pick up any other supplements. Would you mind telling me what a good brain vitamin and supplement regimen would be?

Since i was hit on march 2nd of this year, i have had a pretty constant flow of anxiety. A lot of the time im able to distract myself and not think about it much, but eventually im right back into that circle of bad thoughts. Ativan did help with that a little aswell as helping me sleep, but it doesnt seem like its helping much with the rapid thoughts.

I havent had an anxiety attack since i've been taking ativan, its basically just keeping it at bay although the anxiety is still there weather i take it or not.

The only thing my doctor suggested was Buspar, which i will not take because of the research i have done on it. The possibility of permanent side effects really scares me, so i wont be taking that. He has mentioned things like Lexapro and Paxil, but after my experience with Citalopram its making it really hard to want to get back on an anti depressant.

i was also wondering if anyone has muscle spasms? Recently my muscles or fingers would move slightly like a small electric shock was sent through them. Im not feeling any shock but they occasionally spasm and its been happening more than usual, im also feeling a bit more shakier than usual..

Default Spasms

I get tremors quite regularly. Hands and arms mostly. Neck occasionally. I used to ride my motorcycle alot. After my injury I took it for a short ride to get it inspected. The fluidity of control I had was gone and everything felt twitchy. I parked it and have not been back on it. My wife tells me I spasm and twitch in my sleep now. I am hoping I will get better with time and rest.

I hope you're feeling better today. I also have trouble with anxiety and muscle spasms. Yours could be related to the anxiety. I'm not a doctor in any form but I am on Clonazepam for anxiety. Only when a trigger arises. Sometimes a trigger for me isn't as clear. Are u in therapy? I'm on a waiting list.

I wish u all the best

I had an appt with the doctor today because i have nothing for anxiety, and my anxiety was through the roof. I havent taken any ativan since 7 pm last night and i've started to feel really shakey and my muscles are a bit twitchy so they ended up giving me a shot of benadryl for the time being i guess to calm me down. They also prescribed me vistaril and xanax for the time being till i get in to see a psychiatrist and neurologist.

Im concerned that im still pretty shaky and occasionally my muscles will twitch and since ive been on ativan for 2 months for 1 mg twice a day, i fear i may be going through some withdrawels but im not sure yet. This is the first time i've ever felt really shaky with muscle twitches and anxiety, any idea on what i should do and if i'll be okay?

I have no idea what your going through and if it's the same as me. I have been going to the doctors office a lot lately with muscles that spasm and jerk. My knees ache, calf muscles are tight especially at night. Sensitive to touch.

Every day is a new pain. The other day I couldn't walk it was in my hip (felt like sciatica) down to foot and I had pins and needles in my toes. My massage therapist suspects it might be Fibro. I think it is too. But, we're not doctors.

I suggest keeping a diary for your pains and take it to your specialist appointment. I am. Then they can judge what it is. Don't get me wrong I'm not leaning onto a certain dx I would be happy with anything they give me as long as it's not depression. I just know I am in real terrible pain and need answers.

Hope ur feeling better,

Kelly

Default Symptoms

I am on the PCS roller coaster. Sometimes I feel decent but that is very short lived. Most of my symptoms I have had since very early on. I have had a couple new ones but they are very embarrassing and I don't want to mention them.

I am stuck dealing with the doctors I get, at least initially. I take to heart most everything the senior members advise. Trying to make sure my diet, water and medications are appropriate.

And not get myself in trouble with the WC insurance dweebs.

Default ANXIETY and vitimin B 12 Also Seroquil

Vitimin B12 or a HIGH dose of B Complex is highly recommended by Doctors and myself (If I approve it must be OK).
Seroquel is also very goo anti Anxiety medication.I wont discuss dose thats for your Doctor. But ist at the level of one very small pill 2 times per day and 2 pills at bedtime
Dilantin At betdime will calm you thru the day Do not take this during the day and try to DRIVE EVER I take A moderate dose at bedtime only. I missed my dose one night and thought I would take it in the AM OMG never again. Its not profound but it is obvious. Atavan is OK I would not worry about 1 mg dose .
