I would definitely try cerebrolysin. Its a neuropeptide drug that is given to tbi victims in europe. Its currently in clinal trials in the us. You can however buy online *moderator edit*. Its extremly expensive, 400$ for a month cycle with proper syringes and fliters however the effects are remarkable. Dont let anyone tell you it isnt worth it. Ive heard of it changing peoples lives.

*moderator edit* i'd check it out this stuff is very strong. Increases the amount of ngf, bdgf, ggf, etc

Thank you everyone for your kind words and advice.

Unfortunately, I'm still not feeling any better than I was when I wrote this. In fact, it has gotten worse. It's frustrating that nobody can help me or explain why I'm declining. My neurologist is stuck on "If it's not showing up on the MRI, then it's psychological". It's NOT psychological. There is a real problem going on here and I'm determined to get to the bottom of it. I just don't know where to start.

I'm about to starve myself or dehydrate because when I eat or drink anything, my cognition gets 100x worse. What's up with that? I thought it was bad when I wasn't able to watch TV without throwing my brain for a loop for hours/days, now I can't even eat or drink.

I haven't been doing much but resting the last few days. I've run a few errands but nothing more than that. Still don't feel any better. Another permanent decline with no end in site.

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI.

Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain.

Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms.

Slowly but surely regaining my life back.

Everything is perfect, as it can be no other way,
This was hand picked for you, long before this day.

Your challenge is unique, chosen just for you,
Not now, not ever can you wear another's shoe.

Meth addicted fiend, the wonderful Cassius Clay,
As to who is greater, that is not for us to say.

So we play each hand, never to know if we'll win,
Risk is denied, because we won't if we're not in.

Our only task is to endure, weather the shot that life lands.
Don't peace out yet my brother, we've got a fight on our hands.

We only have a short time to feel, and an eternity to lay peacefully. Stick around to feel pain, pleasure, love and everything in between. Just for now my bro.

What about looking outside the box?
Maybe...
hypnosis
naturopathic care
EFT (emotional freedom technique) http://www.garythink.com/
acupuncture
reflexology

just tossing these out in case you haven't considered them.

How about thinking inside the box. If you can be seen by a good internist, he/she can check out other systems to see if you have something else wrong. Blood sugar can mess with your head. Do you ever get bad or weird breath?

Does UNLV have an internal medicine clinic that can dig deep? A teaching hospital can sometimes take on a difficult diagnosis. Your neuro is clueless if he relies on MRI images.

If they disregard your brain injury history and just start new, they may be able to see past the elephant in the room and find a mouse ravaging your system.

BTW, Glad to see you post again. You can worry us.

My best to you.

Default Hi space cadet

There is always hope in every situation. Don't loose site of that. Can you get into Mayo clinic? For DX that is where I went. I had been to see so many doctors I couldn't remember which one was which. They do get to the bottom of what is wrong. If your doctor would refer you to that wonderful clinic, that would be my best bet, that what ever is wrong with you can be found. You my not like what Mayo has to say, but good grief, they lay out the condition you have plainly. I cried all the way home, but found a peace in knowing what was wrong with me. Not knowing what is happening is torture, expecially when "you" know something is wrong. We must be our own best advocate, and follow those instincts to get the deserved help. Too much life is wasted dear man, with worry, and constant stress. I would dearly love to see you in a frame of mind that you can continue on with a good life. I hope you consider this direction, and accept my wishes for a good outcome. ginnie

What are you eating and drinking? I know that changing my diet made a HUGE difference in the way I felt -- cognition, headaches, depression, everything. What you are eating may or may not be brain friendly? It could be as simple as being low or high on one specific nutrient.

Also, depression itself can affect cognition.

Please see a doctor, including a psychiatrist. Try to get a referral to a CBT provider. Try to get a referral to a nutritionist.

You just can't give up. Your son NEEDS you.
