I got my concussion in a rather strange way: four weeks ago, I went to a friend's birthday party and drank far more than usual. I don't actually know how I hit my head(I was so drunk that I was past the point of remembering anything) but my friend told me I slipped down the stairs. Apparently, I didn't pass out at all and just laughed it off.
So far so good, but the next day I felt awful and somewhat different from a typical hangover. I didn't think about it too much and thought it'd go away after a good night's sleep. It didn't, so I decided to go to the hospital.
The CT scan was negative, the neuropsychological test was okay. I seemed to be perfectly fine. And yet, I wasn't. Even if I had no headaches, I felt awfully dizzy, somewhat depersonalized, and had a heart rate higher than normal. This kept going for two weeks.
After that, my symptoms were replaced with new ones that persist to this day: mild but bearable dizziness, fatigue, unable to sleep properly at all(I end up sleeping from 11 PM to 1 AM and then not being able to sleep at all until 5 AM), daydreaming, very complex, vivid dreams at night and strange memory problems(I have no problems recalling past events but sometimes I can't tell if they happened yesterday or two days ago). When it comes to solving problems, my mind is as sharp as before, but the issues above make me horribly anxious and not in the mood for anything fun like going out anymore(I can fake it to a degree but deep inside my heart all I want is to be at home).
I'm planning to do an MRI in a week or two, but I'm pretty sure it will be negative.
It's so scary to have no clue what's going on with you, I sometimes think it might actually be something else, like liver or kidney disease(I lost weight really fast during the last three months and this might have something to with my current state).

Sounds like post concussion syndrome...lots of rest is the first thing prescribed.

I wouldn't worry that you have any kind of disease. If you had a problem with your kidneys you would know about it because you'd be in unbearable pain in your back and abdomen. And I'm pretty sure there'd be huge warning signs with liver disease,too. Right before my MRI I started to have panic attacks about whether it could be a brain tumour because my headaches often feel like something is pushing against my skull and I thought maybe my accident was a 'sign' to get checked etc... There was no tumour, of course

Other people will have better advice that me, but I just wanted to help ease concerns about very unlikely diseases!

I was in a car accident 12/08/2010 I had pinched nerves in my neck which reached down to my left arm and had 18 cortizone injections in the cervical spine on top of being on pain meds,muscle relaxers,steriods,lyrica( a neuropathic nerve agent) and 9 months later they found I had a concussion and now suffer from PCS. My symptoms are dizziness,vertigo,ringing in the ears,nausia,confussion,sensitive to light and sound and now have to wear prescription glasses and polarized sunglasses,short term memory loss,eye teaming problems which is eyes not getting signals from the brain correctly.i have memory lapses.

Welcome to NeuroTalk. Sorry to hear of your injury and struggles. You delay in getting a diagnosis of concussion and PCS is not uncommon.
