First to postconcussion and then to nightnurse

postconcussion: thanks for detailed response. yes, we have been here for so long when doctors told me i will be up and dancing in 2 months. Probably we are unlucky ones since I saw this severe TBI person, was in coma, going to same hospital I go to, unable to walk was in wheel chair now says he is biking and almost back to normal (in about 1 and a half year). He is about 60 years old. No headaches, dizziness, fatigue etc.,

You explained that dizzy feeling well. I still get that and Xanax sure controls it especially my heart rate. I also start to breathe in a relaxed way (from my yoga/meditation practice) and it helps. I must retrain my brain for this symptom and soon do it without Xanax.

I was taking Ibuprofen which started to destroy my stomach (which is a known side effect). I did get some relief but now have to quit b4 it destroy my stomach. Tylenol does nothing for me. Probably you know about rebound headaches with Tylenol. but you have to do what you have to do. I know a lady who takes 1200mg 3 or4 times a week and comes to work. Surprisingly Xanax works for this too (head pressure, pain below my eyes disappears for a while). I tried so many other meds - Elavil, Neurontin(increased my headache), Cymbalta (got suicidal) etc.,

My Neurologist practises Integrated medicine so he doesn't want me to be on many meds. He rather wants me to do Yoga, tai chi etc., He gave me some Trazadone and said if I want I can try. I am holding of on that one. My pain once completely vanished when I went to ER 7 or 8 months ago for some terrible pain and dizziness and they gave me Toradal shot which didn't help much but then they gave me Dialudid (potent form of Morphin) and after a long time I felt normal for about a day. Then all symptoms came back For this also I have to retrain my brain. I don't want to go on narcotics.

For me Neuorfeedback I did too early after my injury and sure helped but only temporarily. It is definitely not stimulating and I think it worked like Xanax. The therapist I went to had plenty of experience treating TBI patients. Yes it is very expensive if we have to continue for long time.

For neck I am I think both Prolotherapy and Botox helped. I get that intense pain when I sit in certain position and turn my neck. Looking down gets me dizzy and looking up I get relief. So I asked my spine doctor for door cervical traction just to try and she ordered one (insurance covered). I should get that my next week (first 20 lbs and see how I respond). Another trial. Cautiously optimistic. I know my uncle and cousin swears by steroid injections and they get twice a year and get so much relief for some back pain spine related.

Homeopathy I take Nat Sulpur and Kali Phos (this is after consulting with a homeopathic doctor who went through my symptoms detailed and the potency based on my symptom level). Cautiously optimistic again My stomach is very sensitive and I cannot take that mega-sized multi-vitamins and thought it meant for horses. I get very nauseated.

That is upsetting you cannot get to ocean and surf. I can understand since I cannot do lot of things at this point. Not even gym so Yoga sure helps. Even getting to mountains on winding roads is not possible for me now.

Last CT scan they did my brain on ER (because of my history they don't take chances) 7 or 8 months ago. So far I have done 4 ct scans looking at my brain, ear, spine etc., No more CT scans. But if you go to ER most likely you get CT scan since MRIs takes time I guess to go through? I don't know.

NightNurse : I looked into healing touch b4 and there is only one person who is close to me and no hospitals around me offering. So I may have to pay from my pocket and if I go I want to go for atleast 15 sessions or more. Also to get there is not easy though it is close to me driving in that traffic is challenging for me and parking even worse. I may have to look into other therapists but I like to go to some one experienced if I am going to spend that much money. That is why I am leaning for Acupuncture where my Insurance covers.

Cheers!

Default thanks

Thanks for your posting. I haven't been on for a long time-I've generally felt over the last couple of months that I am slowly getting better, but the last week has been really tough and I need some inspiration. I'm going to find a restorative yoga class and go this week!
Do you ever feel like two steps forward one step back? My friends and husband have been great for the last two and a half years (yikes!!!!) but I just don't want to complain to them anymore. I'm still working (25-30 hours a week) and somedays I am totally on top of things and other days I feel I am at the bottom of a pit.
