Default Will an orthopedic dr. do any good?

WC has decided to send me to an orthopedic Dr. I really have no choice, of course, but I'm wondering if anybody here has had a good result from an Ortho? I can't imagine how this will help.

Do you have pain in other parts of your body?
If so maybe that is what they are trying to address...

Is it for an IME/QME?
Or for treatment?

Default Ortho Dr

An orthopedic Dr can address any issues with your neck and or spine. Sometimes when things get out whack it can cause referenced pain. Referenced pain manifests in a location other than where the dysfunction is. How were you injured? Also if your c-spine has been injured it can cause headaches which will not resolve.

that makes sense, I was hit on the back of the head/neck area, pretty much right above the occipital nerve. No pain anywhere but the neck and headaches, biggest problem still is light/sound sensitivity. I get overstimulated easily by doing basically nothing. When WC tried to dump me earlier this year, I was off any kind of meds for a couple months and had an episode of Belle's Palsy which came with a severe stabbing pain in the neck. It took 2 rounds of steroids to get rid of it, and I don't think it would have stayed away even then until I got with my current neurologist and got on meds again.

Hopefully, the orthopedist will not rule out any cervical injuries. They often are not skilled enough to diagnose the minute injuries that can cause a radiculopathy. Hopefully, he has very fine manipulative skills and other cervical diagnostic skills.

You might check for an upper cervical chiropractor. www.nucca.org is a place to check for a referral. There is also http://www.atlasorthogonality.com/

They have superior skills at x-raying the upper cervical vertebra.
