hi, itīs me again. I had a mri on friday and today the doctor told me that there are no brain abnormalities. But he also told me that they had found a cavernous hemangioma (size 3 cm) in my right orbit. what the hell is this. The doctor told me that i have probably always had it and that it couldntīt be caused by my concussion, but how the hell my 2 ct scans (7 weeks ago) didnīt find this at all. He couldnī t explain this to me. He only told me that the ct scans are less specific, so they missed that (but isnīt that quite to big to be missed???). I was send to another specialist that will monitor this problem. Has anything similar happened to any of you after a concussion? I also had an eeg today, but i havenīt got the results yet.

the most horrible thing i can think of is that the ct scans caused this??? damn

Following my concussion in mid-August, the CT scan revealed grape-sized blob behind my right eyeball. MRI indicated a cavernous hemangioma. It's basically a collection of blood vessels, as I understand it, and nothing to worry about. They're very slow-growing, and yes, if I hadn't had a CT scan I prob. would never have known about it. Mine is pushing my right eyeball out 1 1/2 mm, but the opthalmalogist isn't concerned. He'll measure it occasionally to see how it progresses. (Btw, I'm 56.) Hope this helps.

A CT Scan would not cause a hemangioma. I have an 'outpouching' in a large blood vessel above my brain stem. I have a copy of the image files. Mine is about 1 cm. The radiologist was not concerned. As in your case, watching it for symptoms and changes is about all that is suggested. They are usually asymptomatic and not ever noticed until a image is taken for other reasons. People often live their whole lives without ever knowing they are there.
