I'm suppose to have surgery on my wrist tomorrow and would be sedated for about an hr. I didn't even think about the the possible effects the anesthesia might have on my concussion to just now. I did some searches on this forum and Mark recommended not to do general anesthesia. I asked the nurse and they said it would not be general, but a drug that makes you forget everything(probably versed).
I'm suppose to be talking to anesthesialogist in a couple hours and wondering if there are specific questions I should be asking and if anyone can share their experience if they had surgery. I just found out I have convergence insufficiency with my eyes and have been having bad headaches/brain fog recently. I would like to get this surgery done with since it needs to be done, but I could postpone it a year or so If I absolutely had to. I'm very worried about aggravating any of my symptoms. |

I talked to an anathesiologist. He said that Bier Block anathesia would be used and a sedative. I would be "snoozing" during the operation and my arm would be numb. Procedure usually takes 30 min or 1 hr and said there are minimal risks and didn't think this my concussion would be an issue.
Problem is I'm sure he's just guessing and there isn't really any studies on this type of thing. Guess I'm going to have to make a judgement call. |

today,
I hope you are not scheduled for carpal-tunnel surgery. Nerve function to your hand is easily compromised while you are still recovering. I have a 25 year history with carpal tunnel syndrome. My head and neck can make a big difference in my hand symptoms. I have been able to avoid the knife with a variety of behavioral and other changes. If you are interesting in hearing what I have learned about CTS, just ask. My best to you.
