Default 1 Year anniversary

Hi all,

Well, I hit my one year point on the 23rd from a mile head injury (bumped my head while walking...). I have returned to work on reduced hours and slowly increasing them every few weeks.

My workload is still limited but more in the sense of large meetings or exposure to other stimulating environments. I find that cognitively I can function pretty well but tend to get agitated easily in busy public settings still. I adjust my breaks based on cognitive effort or environmental stimulation accordingly.

I still contend with some on and off sleep issues but they are mostly under control. I am maintaining my accupuncture treatments and vision therapy on a reduced schedule with osteopathy as required.

There has been some improvement, in the last few weeks some of my co-workers said it looked like the old me was back and my mind seemed sharp again which was nice to hear. Even told that my appearance seemed more normal although I did not think it changed. Working in IT my sensitivity to the computer screens seems to be gone but I wear glasses with prism's now and have incadescent bulbs over my desk to wash out fluorescent lights.

I am still on a waiting list to see a Neurologist since injury (Canada arggg!), not sure if there is much value at this point? To see one at all looks like I may have to push out of province to a larger centre. My GP made a referral to a Physiatrist as well which I am still waiting for but probably not required at this point.

Life is starting to come back together, got 2 kids now, back to work (somewhat). I made great recovery before and then hit a wall twice, this time a bit slower but I hope to be more resilient and wise in accepting what I hope are still temporary but improving limitations. Playing wii with my son for 30 minutes now and then is something I did not realize how much I missed doing with him.

I hope all of you here can enjoy your holidays. Please stay positive as it can get better just painfully slow.
