It may sound odd but in some ways I wish I'd lived a PCS friendly lifestyle with my child in his early days.
Babies don't do well with the same things that bother PCS sufferers. They get overstimulated. They need calm and peaceful surroundings. They need soothing tones and zero TV is recommended. They need naps and time to just 'be'. Just looking at the world without needing to be rushed or entertained. I imagine I would have been a great comfort to my newborn if I had made our environments match like that. You could see it as an opportunity to provide a very calm peaceful place for your child to grow up in. Many screaming kids in restaurants actually need rescue from that loud busy place too. They need someone to hold them in silence sometimes. So many studies show our children these days are maxed out. You could be the parent who changes that for one little person. What a gift, don't you think?

About it: October 26, 2012 I fell backward on an icy parking lot at work. I was on Workers Comp for 9 months. My PCS : everyday headaches became once in a while headaches, and neck pain became manageable. Still have occasional mild dizziness, sometimes fullness in the ears, convergence insufficiency, sequencing struggles, short term memory struggles, verbal processing delays. CT neg, MRI neg. Therapies: prism glasses, acupuncture, icing neck, resting, supplementing, Elavil 20mg at bedtime. NEW: Completed 12 weeks of physical therapy and returned to work full time. About me: I'm a marketing manager, a mom with a blended family and wife to a heart attack survivor. I believe my brain injury taught me more than it cost me. I'm grateful to still be me! |
