Hi,
Well almost 15 months in and finally seeing my first specialist/Dr. other than my GP. My Dr. put in a referral for an ENT becaue I was having frequent and sometimes continious pressure pops in my ear like I was flying and going throug pressurization. Sometimes this can happen a dozen times in a minute, primarily in my left ear where my main head impact site was. Anything of value I can expect from this appointment? Anyone else feel like their ears are continiously releasing pressure? Still waiting for my first appointment to a neurologist, based on the forum it does not sound like I should expect much. |

I have had this problem. 1 month in after my concussion, my ears would always pop, and pain would occur. Airplane ear it felt like, so to speak. The ENT found impacted wax and even old wax, and once he cleaned that up, less popping for me. I still get a little popping from time to time but it soon goes away. Hope this helps!

College Student in Information Technology and avid PC Gamer, hit the back of my head against a bunk bed and went unconscious for 3 minutes back in 10-28-2012. Symptoms: Occipital Neuralgia. 2 MRI's and CT normal. Currently going through Paxil withdrawals, and psych has me on L-Theanine, Benadryl for zaps, and Lemon Balm. It has eased it by a bit, so I am continuing the treatment till 1 month from now. Made a 98% recovery on April 8, 2013 with only symptoms of pinched nerves/Occipital Neuralgia in the head and is being treated with injections and physical therapy. Was experiencing: Migraines, Headaches, Nausea and Vomiting, Panic Attacks and Anxiety, Depression, Major Insomnia, Brain Fog, Tinnitus, Lethargy, Loss of appetite, Major Heart Palpitations, Occipital Neuralgia has eased a bit. Vitamins and Medicines: , L-Theanine, Omega 3 Super DHA 900mg, Stress B-Complex Extra Strength, Potassium Gluconate 1000mg, Magnesium Malate 1250mg, Vitamin D3 2000 IU, Methylcobalamin B-12 5000 mcg, Vitamin C 500mg, Lemon Balm. Things that helped me: My Vitamin Regimen, Medication, Earplugs (Love these!), Nature Sounds, Hydrotherapy, Neck Pillow with Heat, Heating Pads, Resting, Being Outside! |

I saw an ENT for my dizziness and I had high hopes that they would be able to help me and that I would get some relief from the appointment. I was terribly disappointed when the appointment was all of 5 minutes and there was nothing she could do for me. I have the wrong type of dizziness I guess.
It was just one more thing I had to rule out but it's frustrating to get your hopes up. I guess that's my message to you... be careful you don't go in there with big expectations. I hope they are able to help you though and you can get some relief from your ear popping. I get this also but always assumed it had to do with sinuses and the pressure in my head. I know my ears do not have wax in them. I think my other problem with these specialist appointments is that every time I see one of them and there is nothing they can do for me I feel like they're saying there's nothing wrong with me and I'm healthy as a horse. All tests are normal. It adds to the frustration. I'm still holding out hope that a neuro ophthalmologist might be able to help me a little with the dizziness/blurred vision but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high. I have a long wait to see him so no point worrying about it now. Let us know how your appointment goes! Good Luck! CC

I'm a 39 year old, female, accountant. On July 2, 2012 I crashed my bike at the end of a 65KM road ride. I was fine that day but woke up the next morning to my current world. Ongoing symptoms include: dizziness, blurred vision, light and noise sensitivities, cognitive problems, uncontrollable emotions/depression/anxiety, headaches (but they're getting better), mental and physical fatigue, difficulty communicating and sleep disturbances. Currently seeing a fabulous Neuro Psychologist and vestibular physiotherapist and hoping to soon see a neuro ophthalmologist. I am currently doing 20 minute stationary bike rides daily, 20 minutes of meditating, 15 minutes of Lumosity and lots of resting. I have not been able to work or drive since the accident. The things that have helped me the most since the accident are vestibular therapy, gel eye drops (for blurred vision, sensitivity and dryness), amitriptyline (10mg), and meditating. I am finally starting to see some slight improvements and am hopeful! My brain WANTS to heal itself... I just have to let it and stop trying to get better! |

Thanks for the replies. I am not expecting much. After waiting for 15 months almost for this referral I am mostly functional at this point and almost on full time hours. So I am on the road of recovery, but since it's so hard to get these appointments in Canada I don't want to cancel in case they can actually help.
