Default Case study on iLs as a treatment for mTBI

iLs ("Integrated Listening System") is an emerging treatment used by OTs for treating various disorders, such as autism. It can be used to treat audio and visual hypersensitivity, information processing, and (I think) vestibular problems as well.

Here is a brand-new case study in which iLs was used to successfully treat someone who has had mTBI for 11 years:

http://www.integratedlistening.com/c...-brain-injury/

I am going to be starting iLs treatment soon, and will post some updates.

It will be interesting to see a broader study. This was with just one man.

Let's hope there are more on the way, with more subjects. Perhaps even this one successful case study will help to generate more research funds.

Cool, thanks Pete. It looks like a therapy I should look into.

Let us know how it goes.

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI.

Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain.

Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms.

Slowly but surely regaining my life back.

There was only 2 practitioners listed in Nevada. One of them is no longer in business and the other only works with children.

Bummer.

You can order the equipment to do the program at home by yourself. That's how I'm going to do it, though I have a sister who is an OT and can give me some instruction. I'll ask her if she can send me the url.

The program isn't cheap--between $1100 and $1400, depending on which version you do. Also, that might be with my sister's OT discount; I'll see if I can find out if the price is the same for the general public.

I should be starting this program in about a week. I'll post updates.

Please keep us up to date.

Thanks,

Nick
