Cognitive Therapy helped me a Lot.
Once a week for 6 months at Tampa General Hospital. The tests surprised me and found my weak spots I was not aware of. The therapist was actually a speech therapist and reading the tests out of a book and she told me of work a rounds to my problems that worked. The easy one was carrying a small note book and pen to write things down. Phoning my answering machine and leaving myself a message. Sticky notes. A pocket recorder.
Things are much better than shortly after the accident when I would be driving somewhere and had to pull over and think hard of where I was supposed to be going. The notebook worked. I used it a lot the first year. I had a jacket made with many pockets and a place for everything. It was like a check list to be sure I had my phone and wallet and book and meds etc with me at all times. Ask your Doctor or Hospital if they have Cognitive Rehab.
