Thumbs down Amazing

It is a shame how people are so clueless what a TBI does to a person and everything around them!

This week I have got a call from my academic counselor to see if I "was ready to get back to school"! I have been out of school a month today....when I withdrew I told her I am looking at six months to who knows when I can come back! I listened to voicemail and just tried to brush off my shoulder....

Then I get a email from the company my biz worked for; asking if the biz still needed to be on leave from the company? And how I was doing! I did email her back because she was kind enough to acknowledge that I was ill and she was just checking in as well.

***It appears there is no medium when you tell people you have a TBI & PCS*** They either run fast away or opposite think it is like a broken bone and you will be right back!!!!

I am 2 steps away from Checking in to a hospital so I don't have to deal with people in general.....I can barley deal with myself! Every time I feel grounded lately I get the worst....I thought I had been through the worst already in this past year and some months of uncontrollable devastation!!!

Help Help !!!

I'm afraid I don't have an easy answer. Many of us on this forum have dealt with similar problems from friends, family, and/or coworkers: insensitivity, minimization, and just plain cluelessness. I have found out since my injury who my true friends are, and they are very few. Some people that I once considered friends I no longer consider friends.

Hang in there and know that you are not the only one having to deal with this kind of treatment from other people.

I second that (xanadu00).

What I have tried to do is focus on the people who have been kind and caring. Maybe there are only one or two (hopefull everyone has one person). Little gems, even from friends far away, can carry you through.

Hang in there! It will get better, albeit slowly!
