I am sending good healing thoughts your way for your son. Every parent here feels your pain as no parent can stand to see their child suffering. Its still only been a couple days though and I'm sure he'll be one of the 85% (or so) that's better in a week!
I had a friend get a concussion a couple months after mine and she had horrible symptoms just like mine for a week and then they just went away. She was able to see into my world briefly! Anyhow, hopefully your son has the same sudden and complete recovery. Don't worry about school its not worth it. CC

I'm a 39 year old, female, accountant. On July 2, 2012 I crashed my bike at the end of a 65KM road ride. I was fine that day but woke up the next morning to my current world. Ongoing symptoms include: dizziness, blurred vision, light and noise sensitivities, cognitive problems, uncontrollable emotions/depression/anxiety, headaches (but they're getting better), mental and physical fatigue, difficulty communicating and sleep disturbances. Currently seeing a fabulous Neuro Psychologist and vestibular physiotherapist and hoping to soon see a neuro ophthalmologist. I am currently doing 20 minute stationary bike rides daily, 20 minutes of meditating, 15 minutes of Lumosity and lots of resting. I have not been able to work or drive since the accident. The things that have helped me the most since the accident are vestibular therapy, gel eye drops (for blurred vision, sensitivity and dryness), amitriptyline (10mg), and meditating. I am finally starting to see some slight improvements and am hopeful! My brain WANTS to heal itself... I just have to let it and stop trying to get better! |

Sending you healing thoughts (they travel faster in frigid prairie winter weather!!!
I can feel your concern and worry. Poor boy! But I am sure he will recover quickly and be back to his old tricks soon. Don't worry about school at all. And keep up the routine of quiet, no stimulation, lots of hugging and holding, and soothing activities. Hopefull he is better soon. This must be hell for you! |

So sorry to hear that. My name is Laura i am 17 years old. i got a concussion in september of 2011. I have suffered and am still currently suffering from PCS. Because i refused to slow down and be patient when i got my concussion i pushed through and would convince myself i was okay. This was not the case at all. Do what the doctors say! I ended having damaged nerves that resulted in headaches 24/7. I eventually had to have surgery three times. I would recommend taking him to a concussion specialist and neurologist to take the impact test. Although this can be a long recovery the best advice i can give you is be patient and understanding with your son. It is hard for you but remember it is always harder on your son. Keep your head up, things will be okay!
