Thanks.

I wonder how someone like you or I would go about getting a test done like this on ourselves. I've had every test under the sun performed on me to find out why I've been rapidly declining and come up empty handed. It would be worth a try to check if I've developed a brain disease such as CTE.

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI.

Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain.

Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms.

Slowly but surely regaining my life back.

This test is years away from common use. It was profiled on NBC News Tuesday evening. It is great to see Dr Julian Bailles quoted in the article. He is one of the pioneers in concussion. He started the use of the term Sub-Concussive Impact . The specific PET contrasting agent will need to receive FDA approval. FDG (FluoroDeoxyGlucose) is the common PET contrast for brain issues.

Hopefully, they can use this to image early concussion injuries.

Very good article.

It made the NYT.

This one made the Radiologic Internet site:

Studies about Concussion Jan 2013

Dr Julian Bailles has done some very good work since establishing his organization and staying with it, very good work . Actually more folks should visit his site and read the information for 'patients with TBI' - very good.

Current: Changes of more insomnia, new reviews with findings of more Depression, tremors, vertigo, tinnitus, loss of focus, fatigue; SSDI - accepted on Depression, Cognitive Deficits; Seizures ruled out, mTBI changes including cognitive slowing/lapses.
Medication update: Topamax 200mg twice daily it seems to minimize daily headaches to a 1-2/10 quality(I still know they are there); and acute headaches erupt without warnings.

Dr Bailles has been a leader with concussion and sub-concussive impacts for over 20 years. He and Dr Cantu were speaking out decades ago when nobody was willing to listen. Dr Bailles was the team physician for the Pittsburg Steelers (If I remember correctly). He saw this stuff long before the NFL Players started their law suits.
