Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all the posts on this site. You help me get through each day. I was driving on a highway when a man high on marijauna, driving on a parallel side street, didn't stop at the stop sign. He drove straight across and was instantly in front of me. Instinct kicked in. I braked, swerved, he didn't react at all, and I hit his front left driver's side. His car spun around and hit my back passenger side. I came to rest in the median. My steering wheel bag went off, but nothing else. My hand was broken, my ribs on the rt side very bruised, but the worst injury is my concussion. About 5/6 days later my brain just about shut down on me. So many other symptoms too. My comprehension is delayed, memory issues, sharp headaches, blurry vision, twitching all over, nausea, dizziness...and the stimuli assault on my brain! To go in public is beyond challenging! My brain is overwhelmed and my symptoms get worse with the visual and noise. I end up sleeping 2-3 days after too much stimuli. Even an extra voice in the house does it. I'm not myself, and I miss me. I miss living a normal life with my family, my friends, I miss my job. I go to a concussion clinic. I like the dr. He's very positive and says I'll heal, but would he tell me anything different? Where I am now I can never do my job again. Besides being a wife and mother, it's my calling in life. |

MisssingMe,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. Sorry to hear of your struggles. A lot of what you are experiencing is normal to concussion. What had your concussion clinic doctor been doing for you? What are you doing each day to help you brain recover? Have you had your neck checked out? It is common to suffer upper neck injuries in an injury like yours. Have you tried icing your upper neck. Inflammation there can cause a myriad of problems. Have you stopped all caffeine, alcohol, MSG, artificial sweeteners? They are rough on a recovering brain. What kind of work do you do? Have you tried to go back to work? Please feel free to tell us as much about yourself and your injury as you want. We have heard it all and are here for you. My best to you.

Same same same! You will feel better..but it is really awful for you now. Rest, breath, wait. So sorry to hear what you are going through. I went through that and suffered so much. I too have young kids and a job I love. Each month I do more and more, and get bits of myself back. You are you, deep into each cell.
Hang in there. |

Mark, right now my concussion specialist has me going to public places and walking until my symptoms appear. It's hard being around all the stimuli. I think he is mostly concerned about healing time right now.
I use ice on my head and heat on my neck. I do have pain at the base of my skull. I've moved past the 24 hour nausea phase into the 8-10 bouts a day phase. I notice it more now. I have become very picky about eating. Fruits, veggies, chicken, dairy all work for me. I've noticed some of my tastes changing. I am repulsed by beef. I am not taking any supplements yet, and thanks to everyone here I've not had any alcohol. I don't want to feel any worse. I'm hoping to attend a balance clinic soon. |

That screen name would have been my second choice. I love music right down in my soul. I can't listen to it since my accident. Too much for my brain. I can't wait until I know this person I've become or will become. If parts of the old me are gone for good I can't control that. I just want to move on to whomever I'm going to be and leave all this uncertainty behind.
Like everyone else on here I just want my life back. |

When I see the screen name musiclover, I see musi clover. Somehow, the clover sticks out in my perception. My mind can't separate the c from the lover. Does anybody else see strange things like that?
Just a weird brain fart, I guess.
