Default Anxiety Med recommendation please!

Where to go from here?

I apologize if this seems a little redundant but i am really looking for some poistivity right now.

I dont understand my own mind at this point. It seems as if my own body has betrayed me.

i did not have any of these strange symptoms ( twitching, hot spots, muscle cramps, lump in throat) until a week after i read about MS and ALS symptoms.

Now i have all teh symptoms and its freaking me out!

Twiching all over my legs, a cramp in the arch of my left foot and its extrememly difficult to swallow.

I have been adamit about not relying on drugs to get through this but at this point i am so frazzled that i might have to take something to get over the hump as i feel like i am getting worse by the day.

Does anyone have any sugggestions on MILD anxiety medication?

i jsut got off the phone with my GP and she said "just use the Xanax" but i know that i dont like this drug.

I would recommend that you make a apt with a physiatrist and a psychiatrist....Do you have MRI of Neck or back? I had BAD muscle spasms on top of a lot of other pain and I take valium now for 7days and have not had a muscle spasm since.

Clonazepam (Klonopin) has worked wonders for me, but this is really a question for your psychiatrist.

Like you, I do not like Xanax. You will find an alternative, it may be hard at first though, to find the right one. I have been through Celexa and Cymbalta, and both gave me very bad side effects, G.I. mostly, plus dizziness. Everyone is different, though and the doctor will eventually find the right medicine for you. Good luck!

Also a change of diet will help some symptoms including relieve some anxiety:

Default anxiety releif

xanadu is correct about klonopin. I take that at times. Also it was used to help me wean off Morphine which is a pain to do. It is mild, I have no symptoms, or problems with it. I also see a physiatrist, who prescribed. This type of doctor may be able to help you more than a PCP while you get better. In fact a physiatrist, will help you from the cellular level. Have faith, you can get better. Try not to panic. I wish you all the best. ginnie

I spent considerable time on Klonopin. It was a year of living in a haze. All of the anti-anxiety (anxiolitic) drugs have serious side effects, especially for people with PCS. GPs and other PCP's tend to throw benzos around like M&M's. This is not good medical care.

I believe that a psychiatrist should be prescribing these strong meds at the beginning. They know how to watch and manage the side-effects.

Also, different people will have different reactions to the same meds. Comparing experiences with psychotropic meds is a futile effort.

The MRI needs to be done with the head turned to the right and left to properly show the fine injuries. A straight neck position will not show anything but the most extreme injuries.

Default I am recommending clonazepam also

Clonazepam also called klonopin has been a life saver for me. Take at night. Helps with sleep problems, nightmares etc. stays in system much longer than any of the others. I take at night for a sleep disorder but it helps with anxiety all day long. Plus you don't get the rebound worse anxiety that the Xanax causes. This has been the best benzo I have tried and am so grateful as it helps with my REM sleep behavior disorder and nocturnal seizure disorder. Neurologist says it is only drug that helps for dream enactment. It has really helped my anxiety too. And I am like in the extreme anxiety panic area. I can breathe now.
