If it were me, I would treat myself as if it was a concussion and take a few days of full cognitive rest. Just to be safe. I wish I had understood what that kind of rest meant 3+ years ago.

Best of luck to you - here's hoping that it has had no effect on your recovery.

I attempted to return to working 12 hrs/wk (working from home), but was unsuccessful. Currently applying for medical disability.

Primary Symptoms: dizziness, light & sound sensitivity, confusion, difficulty focusing attention, headaches, depression, exteme fatigue, some insomnia and occassional speach problems - stammer, halted speach as I try to find the word or thought and using incorrect words. Trouble focusing on conversation if there is other noise around - especially other conversations.

That guy on your mood picture better knock it off before he gets a concussion.

I'm just sayin...

Anyways, I agree with Soccergal. There is no sure-fire way to tell if you've sustained another concussion or sub-concussive impact. If you feel that your symptoms have increased, it could just be that you're shook up emotionally from the incident.

Just take it easy, pal.

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI.

Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain.

Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms.

Slowly but surely regaining my life back.

Woah. That is not good news. Rest rest rest... And take it day by day. Acceptance is our number one struggle sometimes. Thinking of you!

My PCS : everyday headaches became once in a while headaches, and neck pain became manageable. Still have occasional mild dizziness, sometimes fullness in the ears, convergence insufficiency, sequencing struggles, short term memory struggles, verbal processing delays. CT neg, MRI neg. Therapies: prism glasses, acupuncture, icing neck, resting, supplementing, Elavil 20mg at bedtime.

NEW: Completed 12 weeks of physical therapy and returned to work full time.

About me: I'm a marketing manager, a mom with a blended family and wife to a heart attack survivor. I believe my brain injury taught me more than it cost me. I'm grateful to still be me!

I'm so sorry for your bad luck and I hope you are not having any setbacks today. It's great to hear that you're doing so well and I hope it continues for you!

I'm a 39 year old, female, accountant. On July 2, 2012 I crashed my bike at the end of a 65KM road ride. I was fine that day but woke up the next morning to my current world.

Ongoing symptoms include: dizziness, blurred vision, light and noise sensitivities, cognitive problems, uncontrollable emotions/depression/anxiety, headaches (but they're getting better), mental and physical fatigue, difficulty communicating and sleep disturbances.

Currently seeing a fabulous Neuro Psychologist and vestibular physiotherapist and hoping to soon see a neuro ophthalmologist. I am currently doing 20 minute stationary bike rides daily, 20 minutes of meditating, 15 minutes of Lumosity and lots of resting. I have not been able to work or drive since the accident.

The things that have helped me the most since the accident are vestibular therapy, gel eye drops (for blurred vision, sensitivity and dryness), amitriptyline (10mg), and meditating. I am finally starting to see some slight improvements and am hopeful!

My brain WANTS to heal itself... I just have to let it and stop trying to get better!

Thanks Cycle crash! These forums mean alot to me and my recovery! I know its such bad luck but I need to push through and take it as just that 'bad luck' I woke up this morning with a stiff neck..this may be attributed to the accident or the fact that I was stressing last night and probably over massaging my neck haha! Either way I need to get into my recovery mind frame again (I was thrown out a little yesterday but think Im back on track).

Its good to hear your on the mend aswell. Heres to beating this horrible syndrome!

Peter,

Given that you said the crash was of minimal impact, I think it is probably safe to say that you didn't suffer any lasting damage. I totally understand your fear of minor impacts turning into major events, trust me. I do the same thing.

For what it's worth, how fast was the car behind you going? Roughly? If it was just a small little fender bender and you had your seatbelt on and such, I really highly doubt anything happened.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks swift foot. I was stationary, the guy who hit me was acutally hit by another car behind him. So a car bumped into a car who bumped into me. haha. the first car was probably doing 5 miles, the guy who hit me was stationary. had my belt on etc etc.. Yea I think it was probably just stress and emotional overstimulation to be honest but like alot of us the anxiety crops up!

Im not feeling too bad today, just a stiff neck like I said so Im hoping I can get back on the recovery path as I was doing so well.

How are you feeling swift?
