Default Discogenic back pain

WC insurance wants me to see Dr about discogenic back pain. I did not have this issue before I got hurt but now I do. There are a number of things on the web site at Drs office. I am curious if anyone has heard of them. I. E. Epidural nerve blocks, thermal annuloplasty. Any knowledge anyone may have would be greatly appreciated.

rmschaver,

There are many different protocols for disc pain. The chiro industry has some decompression systems. PT's often have similar systems. You may even find a multi-discipline spine clinic ( MD, DC, PT ) that offers similar systems. There are deep penetration laser light therapies.

Plus, inversion therapy may help if your head can take the pressure from hanging upside down.

Default back\disc pain

I began having sciatic pain into my leg while at the accident site. I did PT, Chiro - hip was misaligned. Then 2 epidurals which did help some but after the 2nd - 1 week later was the outbreak of tainted steroid medicine that killed a bunch of people and i have been very wary to get another. I also heard the injection can weaken your bones so I dont know if I will have another. The pain comes and goes and it easily aggravated when sitting for too long or the periodic wrong movement or stoop down to pick something up move.

I am suprised WC wants you to see a doctor about it unless you included this as part of your claim.

Are you experiencing radiating pain down your leg or just pain at the low back only?

I have had pain down my leg. My back pain comes in waves. worst would be 9 to 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. Most of the time it is much less. 3 or 4. This week has been bad. Had to leave work early on Tues. Spine surgeon told me there is nothing he can do. I have been told that the MRI I had did not show any stenosis, narrowing of formina, or ruptured disk. I do show degenerative disk disease in both thoracic and lumbar regions. Dr said it looked like arthritis.

He could not say why I was in so much pain and recommended I go back to PT. I have been fighting with WC to get more PT and just found out it has been approved again. It makes me hurt awful right after but long term I feel much better. At first WC denied there was any back injury but the NP recognized it and my pcp recognized it. If enough Drs say you got it WC has a very hard time proving you don't.

RM,

It may be worth a shot(no pun intended) into the dura of your low back. JI have had 2 into back - Like you I am experiencing good to ok days and then bam severe pain. I havent been able to be regularly active as in work out with weights or heavy chores etc since my accident. I did join the Y just for the pool and hydro tub which helps alot wehn you can move around using water which is low impact to your joints. It sound like your WC has not sent you to an IME as of yet - maybe their panel doc but an IME who will challenge any and all of your own docs opinions or try to lessen their severity as best they can.
