Default bad day again

I can't seem to find where to make a new thread. This should be simple I imagine. Mark from Idaho, I studied the links you sent today, thank you. I went and got Ashwaghanda (natural growth hormone) and Epimideum (testosterone) herbs. I also got more cell food and some Arnica. I am so ready to be well! The Vitamin tread was great and I submitted my request on the hormone specialist web site. I am just so sad. I really do not know how to take time off and relax. And if you remember, post concussion is when we bought this house we live in so I am not comfortable in it alone. I get really scared when I'm all alone still. Any help for that? Also, something was mentioned about altitude.... where I live in NM is as 8,000+ feet. So surely I have adapted by now; I think anyways.
So, after taking the Ashwaghanda, my frontal lobe is tingling like crazy! This is good, right? It means something is healing?
Does anyone have any input on the "ups and downs" of this thing? When I start feeling good is it supposed to stay good and I mess it up somehow? Or are in and out of consciousness normal? I am currently on 13 days of down time. Last one lasted two weeks (but the vertigo was not here the last bad spell).
Can anyone give any advice on this?

Here is the link to the index page :

The New Thread button is at the upper left.

If you live at 8,000 feet, you should have adapted to the altitude. A session of HBOT (HyperBaric Oxygen Therapy) may indicate if your brain is struggling to absorb oxygen. Most altitude based oxygen adjustment is based on an increase in red blood cells. This does not change the partial pressure impact of altitude.

An fMRI may help determine if your brain is metabolizing glucose and oxygen properly. The studies of altitude and PCS did not address this specifically. I have tried to research this but found nothing written.

I am concerned about your self-medicating with herbs that have questionable research. It sounds like you also are struggling with anxiety. A therapist who can help you with anxious thoughts would be a help. It would be beneficial to feel comfortable in your home. You need to be able to relax in the quiet without any anxiety.

Just because you are having good days does not mean you can take on more activity or stress. It sounds like your job stress is a big issue to be resolved. what you used to consider small stressors can become big stressors with PCS. Only you know what stressors are part of your daily and weekly activities.

My best to you.

I echo what others have said. I would emphasize a neuro opthamologist or at least a behavioural optomistrist (NORA website has info). I have a life that sounds like yours and had similar symptoms, and the eye disfunction was a huge piece of that.

It gets better...slowly. But it really does. I was (am) in your shoes in trying to find hope out of hell. There is hope and you need to believe that. Hang in there.

What happened: Legs pulled forward by a parent's hockey stick while resting at the side of the rink at a family skate....sent me straight back. I hit the back of my head (with helmet) on the ice, bounced a few times, unconscious for a few minutes. September 11, 2011. Off work since then…I work part-time at home when I can. It has been hell but slowly feeling better (when I am alone☺).

Current symptoms: Vision problems (but 20/20 in each eye alone!) – convergence insufficiency – horizontal and vertical (heterophoria), problems with tracking and saccades, peripheral vision problems, eyes see different colour tints; tinnitus 24/7 both ears; hyperacusis (noise filter gone!), labyrinthian (inner ear) concussion, vestibular dysfunction (dizzy, bedspins, need to look down when walking); partial loss of sense of smell; electric shocks through head when doing too much; headaches; emotional lability; memory blanks; difficulty concentrating. I still can’t go into busy, noisy places. Fatigue. Executive functioning was affected – multi-tasking, planning, motivation. Slight aphasia. Shooting pain up neck and limited mobility at neck. Otherwise lucky!

Current treatments: Vestibular therapy, Vision therapy, amantadine (100 mg a day), acupuncture and physiotherapy for neck, slow return to exercise, magnesium, resveratrol, omega 3 fish oils, vitamins D, B and multi. Optimism and perserverance.
