Default PCS Update - 11 Months

Hi,

On the recommendation of many members here I started vestibular rehabilitation last week. Although I have only had one session I believe that it HAS helped me and I've actually made some progress.

My main symptoms are dizziness/light headedness, vertigo and sensitivity to light and noise. Last week I was unable to walk without symptoms and for the first time in 11 months I walked with close to no symptoms It's not much but I have to take it as progress! I've also noticed close to no symptoms while watching tv which was a big problem and couple weeks ago.

I did notice a clicking in/near my ears when I was doing an exercise where you shake your head. Anybody have any ideas what this could be? It's not painful but it is concerning and bothersome. I was also very sick and nauseous the day after the vestibular rehab session. I'm assuming it was from the exercises? This is the first time I've felt nauseous to the point where I vomit in these past 11 months.

Anybody thinking about vestibular rehabilitation should definitely check it out! I will continue and I hope to see more progress! For the first time in 11 months I feel like there might be light at the end of the tunnel

I'm so glad to hear its helping you! I too have noticed many improvements since starting vestibular rehab 6 weeks ago. Its even helped with things that I didn't realise were connected. For example my headaches are almost gone and I didn't realise the dizziness was contributing to them because I was tensing my shoulders and neck.

I would recommend them to people too. You will know fairly quickly if they're helping you and they aren't ridiculously expensive.

Unfortunately in the beginning you might have a couple bad days after but this too goes away!

I hope you have continued success!

I'm a 39 year old, female, accountant. On July 2, 2012 I crashed my bike at the end of a 65KM road ride. I was fine that day but woke up the next morning to my current world.

Ongoing symptoms include: dizziness, blurred vision, light and noise sensitivities, cognitive problems, uncontrollable emotions/depression/anxiety, headaches (but they're getting better), mental and physical fatigue, difficulty communicating and sleep disturbances.

Currently seeing a fabulous Neuro Psychologist and vestibular physiotherapist and hoping to soon see a neuro ophthalmologist. I am currently doing 20 minute stationary bike rides daily, 20 minutes of meditating, 15 minutes of Lumosity and lots of resting. I have not been able to work or drive since the accident.

The things that have helped me the most since the accident are vestibular therapy, gel eye drops (for blurred vision, sensitivity and dryness), amitriptyline (10mg), and meditating. I am finally starting to see some slight improvements and am hopeful!

My brain WANTS to heal itself... I just have to let it and stop trying to get better!
