Well, what feels like being stuck in limbo with this injury, specifically post concussion syndrome, exertional migraines, upper cervical pain, and after meeting with a cervical doctor who thoroughly went over my recent cervical MRI slides, I decided to undergo a diagnostic nerve block treatment on upper cervical facets, which may be contributing to my exertional migraines. Nothing else he saw was evidence to any of the problems I've been experiencing. I ran down my pre injury health, injuries, and timeline and he asked lots of questions.

Doc wants me to "go out and bring me a headache" so we can test the block, so I'll likely workout in the AM and my appointment is in the afternoon. I don't know if this will work but I let him know that I'm willing to try, we're all experiements of one, and this isn't a treatment I've tried yet.

My only goal for this, and for recovery in general, is just to be able to keep my body healthy by being able to swim, do yoga, weights, without being hammered by headaches.

Not sure if anyone else has sucesses with this, or non-sucesses with this, but going in with an open, headachy mind!

Hope this works. I am interested to know how it turns out. I suffer with headaches so bad. Let me know how it worked and how painful it was.

with me lifting weights and doing any active stuff throws me into a massive headaches...

All, well there's good news and not so bad news.

First thing yesterday morning I tried swimming about 800 yards in intervals which in the past has always given me headaches. Nothing immediately, and oddly enough nothing for six hours afterwards.

I then tried to do lots of crunches, which too is the trigger for headaches. Nothing. Went to the appointment, explained to the doctor that I didn't have a headache. They said they couldn't do a nerve block without presentation of headache. Made sense. Cancelled my appointment and left.


Even as I went to bed I still didn't have but maybe a slight tinge of headache.

I guess long story short, is that after 3 years of "it's going to take a little time", my brain made a little jump in recovery. This morning there's a little headache but not like the one which felt like a mosh pit happening in my head.

Everything I've been doing in the process of "waiting" is what I found here in this groups advice, vitamins, encouragement, cognative rest when I can, and trying to be at peace with where I'm at, and to be thankful.
