I am only having a a partial neuropsychological evaluation and paid $1600.00. I am told it will give me enough results for evidence to get disability benefits and to direct me to what kind of treatment I need to pursue. The full evaluation is $4000.00 to $8,000.00. I know. Steep. Insurance will not pay. At least not the kind I have and I hear none of the U.S insurance companies will cover it either.
I need to have a sleep study done too which I hear is even more expensive and insurance does not cover. Guess I won't be getting that. Good luck to you. Brain

I just completed and I believe it was $3,500 for the eval and proper report. Very worth it so you can plan treatment.

Not all NP's are good. Research one that has at least heard of PCS.
Don't assume they all know something. You're better off assuming they're clueless until they prove otherwise. Ask their experience with concussion and PCS not just their fees.

About it: October 26, 2012 I fell backward on an icy parking lot at work. I was on Workers Comp for 9 months. My PCS : everyday headaches became once in a while headaches, and neck pain became manageable. Still have occasional mild dizziness, sometimes fullness in the ears, convergence insufficiency, sequencing struggles, short term memory struggles, verbal processing delays. CT neg, MRI neg. Therapies: prism glasses, acupuncture, icing neck, resting, supplementing, Elavil 20mg at bedtime. NEW: Completed 12 weeks of physical therapy and returned to work full time. About me: I'm a marketing manager, a mom with a blended family and wife to a heart attack survivor. I believe my brain injury taught me more than it cost me. I'm grateful to still be me! |

aldora,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. You have found a good place. Please feel free to introduce yourself and tell us how we can help you. Tell us about your injury and struggles. What have you tried to enhance recovery ? NPA's can be great at confirming and defining disabilities. Planning treatment is not as good. Much of the treatment is learning to work with the limitations. Cognitive therapy is not always worthwhile. The wrong battery of tests can render the results of limited value. For years, the Halsted-Reitan Battery was the gold standard for mTBI. many try to use a shorter battery of tests. The prices others quoted are legitimate. What are you hoping to find out ?
