Default might have foot stress fracture....

WELL, I've had a sore foot for well over a week now. Saw my GP today for some referrals, to have some BW done, and also to get him to check my foot. I'm going to an xray tomorrow, since there's a good possibility that I have a stress fracture...

Sighs, I've hardly moved in the last year, but from what I can tell LACK of activity can cause a stress fracture as much as OVER activity...

Praying it's just an irritated tendon or something, but I am afraid there's a good chance it's a fracture. GAH. Just one more unexpected side effects of a concussion!!!

When resting, symptoms are low. With exertion, I still suffer from fatigue, migraines, vision problems, problems thinking or reading, troubles sleeping, issues finding or getting words to my mouth when the headaches are bad, tinnitus, and thyroid issues which I think are due to the concussion. Seen one specialist, and now a few others through insurance review of my case. Hoping for further treatment.

Wow sorry to hear that! From my experiences though, a broken bone heals much faster and more completely than a tendon problem! Hope for the stress fracture and you will be good as new in no time! If it is a bad tendon issue it could plague you for life! Is the fact that I'm a runner coming through here

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I'm a 39 year old, female, accountant. On July 2, 2012 I crashed my bike at the end of a 65KM road ride. I was fine that day but woke up the next morning to my current world.

Ongoing symptoms include: dizziness, blurred vision, light and noise sensitivities, cognitive problems, uncontrollable emotions/depression/anxiety, headaches (but they're getting better), mental and physical fatigue, difficulty communicating and sleep disturbances.

Currently seeing a fabulous Neuro Psychologist and vestibular physiotherapist and hoping to soon see a neuro ophthalmologist. I am currently doing 20 minute stationary bike rides daily, 20 minutes of meditating, 15 minutes of Lumosity and lots of resting. I have not been able to work or drive since the accident.

The things that have helped me the most since the accident are vestibular therapy, gel eye drops (for blurred vision, sensitivity and dryness), amitriptyline (10mg), and meditating. I am finally starting to see some slight improvements and am hopeful!

My brain WANTS to heal itself... I just have to let it and stop trying to get better!

LOL, thanks... I've had foot problems, many many years ago... and they always self resolved. But a week in, with point tenderness, and sudden pain onset (felt a pop in my foot) and cannot take any steps with my foot flat (I'm walking on the edge of my foot now...) ...

It's just amazing that something at the other end of my body could actually be as a result of my head! A year of utter inactivity is really starting to grate on me...

I have my xrays tomorrow, so hopefully I'll know sooner rather than later what's up...

Sorry to hear that Cam. C.C is right though about a broken bone healing fast. I also have some foot problems. I have a painful condition that flares up sometimes called plantar fasciitis. It also makes it so you can't walk flat on your foot. They gave me a little padded brace thing to wear and it clears it up good. I never had this before either until becoming so inactive. Hope you are feeling better soon. Hang in there.

I won't find out till Friday. But my foot is lightly swollen still after a week and a half. Highly suspect a fracture. My ankle is sore from guarding and walking on the outside of my foot... So maybe a removable plastic cast would be better than this. Will let you know what happens.

Oh gosh! You have to wait until Friday to find out? That's a long time. Couldn't they read the xrays while you were there? Have you been icing it and resting it, while elevated?

You poor thing... just did not need one more thing!

Yeah, not so thrilled. I should have taken my requisition and gone to the hospital instead.... So yes, I have another day before I'll know likely, which is annoying. And if it's not a fracture, I'm going to need to see a specialist to figure out what it really is... but as said, a fracture at this point is easier to heal and deal with than anything else...

Well... no fracture... but I did find out that I have osteoarthritis. Not the joint that was sore, but possible I have early arthritis that bothering that joint... am able to walk a bit more normally today, which is good... still tender but not so much... and knowing about the arthritis explains why I sometimes wake with pain in my bog toe joint. All in all, just glad it;s not a fracture.

camyam,
That's good news that its not a fracture! Not great that you have some osteoarthritis, but that's not unusual once you hit 40 ish. Usually you start to show some signs of wear and tear... a little earlier, even, in my experience if you ride horses all your life or other fun things!

I've had xray technicians redo xrays on me before because they are *sure* their machines have malfunctioned when in fact that's just what my joints look like! LOL!!

I hope you start to get around easier and the pain subsides!
