So today, I drove through Burger King and had a yummy, good Mocha Frappe. 30 minutes in after I drank it, I had the worse stomach pains, with gas and Acid Reflux, and diarrhea. And I feel itchy, is this a clue to a milk allergy?

Probably some additive.... restaurant foods are filled with chemicals. Some are laxative.
If you drink regular milk and don't get this reaction, I'd suspect the additives in that fast food nightmare!

Sounds more like lactose intolerance than an allergy.

I agree with mrsD. I am lactose intolerant. I have never had diarrhea from my lactose intolerance. If anything, the lactose intolerance causes constipation.

One way to test is to buy some LactAid pills and then drink some milk. Consumed a few minutes beforehand, they will bind to the lactose in anything that you eat and allow it to safely pass through your system.

I have lactose intolerance, and have on many occasions gotten diarrhea from it. Lactase pills help, unless it's an unusually large serving of whatever milk product.
You would think you'd have noticed these reactions upon consuming dairy products in the past. Have you, or was this a one-time thing? Could have been a touch of norovirus that coincided with that meal.

Lactaid pills don't work for me. LACTAID® Products contain lactase, a natural enzyme that helps break down lactose.
I used to drink pre-processed (lactose reduced milk) with no problem. Now, I drink whole milk that has not been homogenized. Homogenized milk has fat globules that have been pulverized into tiny pieces that will pass through the intestinal wall. Non-homogenized milk has fat globules that are full size and need to be digested before they can pass through the intestinal wall. There is another milk differential. A2 milk is cow's milk that contains the A2 type of β-casein protein rather than the more prevalent A1 protein. The A1 β-casein protein is more common in cow breeds that produce higher qualities of milk. A2 milk has shown to be safer for the neurological development of young children. The A1 β-casein protein has a weak link in the chain that breaks in the digestive system. The small fragments can pass through the intestinal wall undigested. The A2 β-casein protein has stronger links so the protein needs to be digested before it will pass through the intestinal wall. Modern food systems have put production quantity over quality. Those of us with health needs often need the old forms of foods. There is also a big difference between modern wheat and ancient wheat. Maybe we need to eat lots of pickles so we become pickled and have a longer shelf life. LOL

Since this concussion I cannot eat very much dairy.I at first thought soy would be better for me but I was WRONG! I drink almond milk or coconut milk now.I use coconut oil for butter and limit any other dairy.I would get constipated like Mark and also phlegm flu like symptoms that I have come up and spit out.So that is one of my work arounds.Limit dairy products.M.D. tested me for everything for allergies and I am only allergic to grass, pollen and hayfever.
I take a cal-mag supplement and vitamin D to replace dairy. From my understanding it has something to do with the change in hormones from concussion?

Restaurants have chemically laden foods.
This mocha drink could have: maltodextrin = laxative Magnesium oxide= an anticaking additive which is laxative or sorbitol, maltitol or xylitol = to reduce sugar content, all which are laxative-- Sorbate is also sorbitol, and often called a preservative. or carageenan= often in soft serve Dairy Queen style ice cream and other dairy products: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrageenan If you drink regular milk with no problem, but this mocha drink at Burger King upset you, I'd suspect an additive. Chemicals are added to fast foods, to help reconstitute them, to help make them in bulk, for ease in shipping, and for taste results. Some common foods now routinely have sorbitol in them. Hershey's is adding them to some kisses products, and up scale chocolates like Russell Stover and Whitman's now has it. Sorbitol is a humectant, which keeps chocolate and other foods moist and chewie. This can be a bombshell to your colon! So start reading labels, and see what you can find. You'll be amazed. It is thought today that sorbitol is one cause of the IBS symptoms that are so common today. http://www.foodintol.com/sorbitol-th...ith-sugar-free This is the general food content of the mocha frappe: Quote:

There are a few things I am not familiar with, so cannot comment on. But any ingredient that is a "suspending agent" is capable of causing GI upset in some people.
