I have been put on a preventative med called Sanomigran and it seems to be helping already. It blocks serotonin (or 5HT) receptors in the brain.

Serotonin causes a release of chemicals in the brain which widens blood vessels in the brain. This is what my post concussion headaches are all about, and this explains a lot possibly.

I speculate that the ear ache, sinus pain and tinnitus is related to widened blood vessels, and my migraine headaches certainly are related to this. Goodness knows what other PCS symptoms could have been caused by this? Light and Noise sensitivity spring to mind.

I also feel that my exercise intolerance and fatigue are also closely related to this. My energy levels are up with this medication. I won't be venturing to the gym yet, but I am increasing activity.

I thankfully no longer have severe migraine attacks, and now have a medication that should with time hopefully reduce all headaches.

Your right, I don't think it is approved yet in USA but it is available in Europe and Canada.

It has a very different mechanism to other migraine meds.

It has definately reduced headaches and if they don't go away I use Imigran which takes all headaches away without fail.

Is this in a pill form or mix with water?
Did you get DX with vascular headache or post traumatic HA?

Do you have to take it at the start of the headache and how long before it is completely gone?

Have you been to an ENT (ear, nose throat) Dr. to test for any vestibular issues?

I ask because I also had excessive dizziness, noise sensitivity and nausea that never resolved.

It turns out that I do have vestibular issues (both central and peripheral)-and that my migraines can be trigged by loud noises amoung other things!

It is a tablet that I take before bed, because it makes you very drowzy. My doctor informs me that it could take upto a month to work. It doesn't stop headaches when they start, it is supposed to prevent them.

My headaches are post traumatic and are taking the form of vascular headaches I think because:
1. I didn't have them when I was on Cymbalta which is a medication that produces serotonin which in turn narrows blood vessels.
2 My headaches go with Imigran which also narrows blood vessels.

I haven't seen ENT, and thankfully no longer have dizzyness, noise sensitivity, all I get now is fatigued and a throbbing headache from going to work. I am much better at weekends.

There isn't enough knowledge and expertise about PCS in my opinion. A lot of the getting better and working out what is wrong has been down to me, and also trial and error.
