Default Need to go back to work. Doctors aren't helping at all. What should I do?

Got a concussion a month ago. Have been basically sitting on the couch all day, sleeping 12hr a night, no TV, no physical activity except long walk once in a while. Been taking high doses of vitamins an fish oil while eating healthy.

Today I still have most my symptoms.
Really bad Vertigo when changing positions, dizziness, headaches off and on, short term memory problems, can't make decisions, irritability, fatigue

I went back to the doctor yesterday and he said there's nothing I can do but rest. How true is this? It seems like after another month of wasting my life ill still be in the same position as I am now. Should I go to physio or something?

I've been off work for a month and need to go back so I don't get fired. It's construction work with long hours 7 days a week and very physical. But I also make a lot of money.

Would going back to work make symptoms permanent?

We are all different, but I needed five months off before returning to work and my job is office based but I also do lots driving.

If you still have the symptoms you describe you need quiet rest without stimulation, and you should avoid long walks also. Leading as boring life as possible is unfortunately what you need and getting 1 to 2 hours sleep in the afternoon will also help recovery. Sorry, but it takes time!

If you have headaches, you should maybe get some pain meds off your doctor.

Headaches are tolerable, the vertigo is the really annoying one. And I pretty much need to go back to work right away. I have house and truck payments that I need to say ahead of. So either way I'm screwed haha

If you head aches are tolerable, stay away from prescription pain meds. The vertigo may need to be assessed by a vestibular specialist. It does not sound like your doctor knows much about concussion.

If you can work without putting yourself in danger from the vertigo or poor reactions, it's a shot you will have to make. Working will not make you symptoms permanent. It will just slow your recovery. You also need to not put yourself at risk of another head impact.
