Default utterly ridiculous depression

sending out an sos!

Five months out, have been vetted recently by a neuro and a neuroopthalmologist, both basically shrugged and were like "it's just concussion, you'll get better if and when you do."

I know PCS is unique to each individual but my symptoms follow a really clear-cut pattern and if i challenge it or push myself, I get pain in a very specific area of my head as if I were poking at a splinter.

- odd feeling
- visual auras "ocular migraine"
- sensitivity to light/sound, vertigo
- difficulty reading/skimming/interpreting things I see
- mild to moderate discomfort in area of injury
- nausea
- sharp waves of painful depression like being hit in the face with a shovel over and over.

anybody else have a weird sequence like this? am still on the no-chemicals, no-changes-in-meds healing regimen a la neuro.

also, any advice for dealing with the depression would be amazing. i've never experienced anything as vivid, painful, and invasive as this.

thanks in advance!

Drop those doctors. They don't sound sure of their knowledge of PCS. One of my docs said if a dr blows it off or doesn't believe in it or says they can't find anything wrong, that means they are beyond their level of knowledge.

Sounds similar to pt migraines. I go to an otologist. Lots of vestibular issues.

Get a great psychiatrist. Shop until you find the RIGHT ONE FOR YOU! Get meds if needed.

Then shop for a great neuropsychologist and talk about what's happening. This person can help you with any confusion. It may take a while, but it does help me.

Good luck. Jace

Default Agreed!

Hi there,

I agree with the previous poster. It sounds like the doctors you have don't know and don't care about your brain issues.

You may very well need some meds for the depression.

Please put your health first and find some other opinions out there.

Sincerely,

pm

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013.

Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines,

Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something.

Therapy I had: vestibular

3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling.

9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms.
I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery.

Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired.

Default Hi dancing

Doctors who dismiss you and ignor what you are saying, arn't worth your time and effort. I would find new doctors who would lilsten to me. Depression can ruin a person life, and make you feel hopeless and helpless. A good team in your corner is essential to feeling better. Maybe you do need a medication, I don't know, but I do know you don't have the medical support you need to break out of the depression. Lord knows, I have felt that depression too. All three of my doctos are in my corner, very active in overall health care, and most of all they care about me as a person, not just health issues. Seek that out, and I guarantee there is help for you. I am on two medications, and am extremely grateful my docs. stepped up to the plate and helped. Please keep on going, and find new health care people. You can feel better, even with TBI. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. ginnie

Those Dr's are useless, heartless, you don't need to hear that insensitive stuff.

I could have written everything you described, and I get the worst headaches ever.

I am so down, don't want to do anything and feel like a totally different person.
Sometimes...and they are getting more frequent..I sit and just sob, I am on an anti-depressant but who knows if it's working. My head hurts...

I've just started vestibular therapy for dizziness.

Cannot think straight, can't read as I skip words or have to go back over and over a sentence so have given up for now.

Definitely keep fighting and find a Dr who understands, it is tough I know.

Hugs....
