Thumbs up Wish me luck! (MEG, LENS neurofeedback)

Lo and behold -- after two years of suffering from severe cognitive problems with no end in site, trying every type of medical treatment available, many many different doctors who didn't understand or believe me, every test under the sun only for them to come back clear and a dagger through the hearts of my family as they stood by my side, helplessly watching as I fall apart more and more...I have finally got the help I've been looking for.

I've been accepted into a VA funded TBI study for people with prolonged or persistent post concussion syndrome symptoms. They'll be using state of the art equipment to test and treat me for the horrid symptoms I've been experiencing for going on two years now. I'll be leaving tonight for San Diego, where they will be paying ME to take neuropsych test, MRI and MEG brain scan. Saturday I'll be in Santa Monica to meet someone to start treatment with LENS neurofeedback. This kind person is giving me the treatments absolutely free.

I'm headed out there on a very limited fund with no for sure place to stay. I'll be bouncing around from friend to friend for 6 weeks with the possibility of sleeping on the street some nights. And, I have no idea how this treatment will effect me. Supposedly, I should feel a difference after the first two sessions. But anyways, this is a risk I have to take. You all know how horrible it is to live this way. This could be my one and only chance to take my life back.

Pray for me, wish me luck. I will keep you all up to date.

Godspeed in your recoveries...

Nick

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI.

Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain.

Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms.

Slowly but surely regaining my life back.

Anybody who is using LENS and telling you "Supposedly, I should feel a difference after the first two sessions. " leaves a big question in my mind.

I hope you don't suffer any negative effects.

Mark,

The doctor didn't say that. That's what I'm saying myself. He said that I will start to feel better after the first or second treatment.

We'll see what happens.
