Thumbs down So, i messed up...can this be reversed?

So, i picked up the nasty habit of smoking cigarettes a little over a month ago. This is a habit i kicked almost 3 years ago. At first, i felt fine but a month later I've discovered that it's really taking a toll on my cognitive symptoms...which are already majorly impaired. I've already made the decision to quit...I'm just wondering if I'll ever feel better again. Has the damage been done and I'm just screwed? Or will this eventually pass as the weeks go by?

It was bad decision making to pick the habit back up knowing my brain is already struggling.

Stupid me.

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI.

Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain.

Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms.

Slowly but surely regaining my life back.

Oh my that sounds familiar. I was quit myself until my apt was burglarized (I wasn't home, but my service animal was). Between the obvious eeks about being burglarized, worried sick as I couldn't find Tigger anywhere and the rest that comes with being burglarized, I finally asked maintenance for ONE cigarette.

Huge mistake. I have to quit all over again. Last time I quit, I did use chantix and I have to say it helped a LOT.

And yes, after a few months of no cigarettes, I was feeling better.

I'm gearing up to quit again, only getting out of the way some surgical issues, as well as changeover in 4 specialists who left the area.

Once that is behind me, cold turkey for me a LOTS of fresh veggies.

And never again "just one". There is no such thing as "just one" for a former cigarette smoker

oy vey we live and learn

P.S. Tigger was fine, the bugger was hiding in apt. He waited until CSI got there and doggone it, went to the bedroom for her to dust for prints and Tiggers was all spread out on the bed like sunbathing, then he proceded to tell her all about what had happened...um, except no "cat translator"
