Default Cymbalta reduction

I no longer have headaches or need Imigran so my doctor is reducing my dossage of Cymbalta from 60mg to 30mg with a view to me going off it.

Hopefully I will manage the withdrawal ok like the last time I stopped it (prematurely). I went down to 30mg yesterday and have no headaches. It would be great to be off it without the pain coming back, only time will tell.

Symptoms mostly resolved, working full time and I am now mostly better. I wake 6am daily since my injury. Was experiencing daily Neuralgia which was controlled with Cymbalta 30mg, Lyrica 200mg daily. Now only on 30mg Cymbalta.

I wish you the best of luck and hope this works well this time. The less drugs you have to take, the better.

September 16, 2011 my son collapsed on the football field due to a subdural hematoma. He was life flighted to the hospital where they did emergency surgery. At first the DR said that he thought everything would be fine. Then his brain started swelling three days later, he had midline shift to the right side cavity and then the brain herniated onto the brain stem. They did not think he would make it. They stabilized until family could come. After family got there, he began to stabilize. We were counseled to "let him go" because the brain damage would be extensive. We chose life. He was in a coma for 48 days and then a vegetative state for another 58 days. He was considered semi-conscious Jan. 5, 2012. It is now July 2013. He has no short term memory, still is now walking with a walker, and has issues with expressive language, and is incontinent.

Thanks, when I stop Cymbalta I wont be on any drugs.

There is a time and a place for them though, and two symptoms of PCS are low mood and pain, and Cymbalta has really helped me with both of these. In fact being precribed Cymbalta was the turning point in my recovery.

I am 9 months on and thankfully only have fatigue now, so hopefully by the anniversary of my accident I will be more or less better. It takes a long time to recover from PCS for some people.

Good luck! Glad to hear you are feeling better!

What happened: Legs pulled forward by a parent's hockey stick while resting at the side of the rink at a family skate....sent me straight back. I hit the back of my head (with helmet) on the ice, bounced a few times, unconscious for a few minutes. September 11, 2011. Off work since then…I work part-time at home when I can. It has been hell but slowly feeling better (when I am alone☺).

Current symptoms: Vision problems (but 20/20 in each eye alone!) – convergence insufficiency – horizontal and vertical (heterophoria), problems with tracking and saccades, peripheral vision problems, eyes see different colour tints; tinnitus 24/7 both ears; hyperacusis (noise filter gone!), labyrinthian (inner ear) concussion, vestibular dysfunction (dizzy, bedspins, need to look down when walking); partial loss of sense of smell; electric shocks through head when doing too much; headaches; emotional lability; memory blanks; difficulty concentrating. I still can’t go into busy, noisy places. Fatigue. Executive functioning was affected – multi-tasking, planning, motivation. Slight aphasia. Shooting pain up neck and limited mobility at neck. Otherwise lucky!

Current treatments: Vestibular therapy, Vision therapy, amantadine (100 mg a day), acupuncture and physiotherapy for neck, slow return to exercise, magnesium, resveratrol, omega 3 fish oils, vitamins D, B and multi. Optimism and perserverance.

Good luck to you. I hope your headaches stay away. They are a huge curse with a tbi!

I can't take headache pain anymore.

How is work? Multitasking and all the sensory and people input?

I have to say I didn't know what a real headache was until I banged my head. Thankfully after 9 months they appear to have gone, but the real test of this is when I stop Cymbalta.

Work and all it's pressures are manageable. Someone is looking over me because this summer has been less busy than normal, this has really helped me because I need to work at a slightly slower pace.

Fatigue as a result of work is still there but getting better. I am now working full time.

I have gained a stone since injury, so want to get this off, as I feel carrying too much weight slows you down and increases tiredness. I used to go the gym 3 times a week, but stopped due to exercise intolerance/headaches.

I am off to the gym now and hopefully will be able to continue this, currently doing 45 minutes on the cross trainer, but still months away from running on the treadmill.
