Ooo After 2 years of no diziness, it suddenly came back?

Been a while since posting. Hope you're recovering well. I still have chronic pain in the roof of my mouth. Thank God no headaches (over three years since the TBI).

I had dizziness for quite a while, and I think it ended 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. But It came back Thurs. Not sure what triggered it since nothing out of the ordinary happened.

The problem is laying down for bed (try not to lie down til then).
The changed blood flow caused huge dizziness. Also when getting up in the morning. Almost dangerous to do so the dizziness is so strong at first.

I'm moving very slowly, of course, when doing so.

Thanks for any insights!

Hi Jeffrey,
Just a suggestion: Is it really the same thing that has returned or could it be something else? People do get problems with dizziness and balance even if they have not had a TBI. For example, there are crystals that can form in the fluids in the inner ear and there is a particular manoeuvre that repositions the crystals and gets rid of the dizziness. The fact that it happens when you are lying down suggests that perhaps your crystals, if you have any, are floating into a different position. This is something that, I think, a doctor could advise on and perhaps put right. Perhaps you might explore that, or other possibilities, before assuming that it is necessarily a return of symptoms from your TBI.
Good luck. CS

Over the years all symptoms have become milder but have not disappeared.

I have the exact same problem as to what you are describing, when I lay down, sit down, stand up, sit up, anything like that I get grey dots in my eyes and completely lose my balance for the next few minutes. I have learned to get up and sit down very slowly, and to make sure I have something to hold on to.

Mine is caused by a rapid drop in blood pressure, which is apparently quite common for male teenagers.

Just thought I would share my experience.

Thanks for the replies. I would like to get it checked out someday when I can afford and find a doctor. It'd be great if it wasn't related to the TBI.

Hi, 6 years post injury I also had dizziness reappear out of the blue and disappear 4 months later. Neither the neurologist or the physiatrist know why this happened. It had no physical cause they can find - it's not inner ear related. However, they're starting to think it's related to a change in migraine aura. You mentioned no more headaches - were you diagnosed with migraine or just the horrible headache after injury? Since starting a new migraine med I no longer have the headaches, but still get intermittent blurred vision and dizziness minus the headache (took months for them to figure this out).

Have you tried propping up on pillows to sleep? That helped me before it went away. You'll get through this! ;-)

Thanks for the reply. Wasn't diagnosed with anything. Clueless doctor on the ship I was on, and at John Muir ER.

Haven't tried more than one pillow. Only have one, but can try when visiting family this weekend. Stairs are a real pain when dizzy, but everything is. Constantly trying to avoid more injury & focus on work.
