Default Where do I find help?

As mentioned in an earlier post, I suffered a minor concussion about 15 years ago. Diagnosed with post concussive syndrome, I believed my "issues" had diminished and everything was okay after about two years. For the last 13 years or so I guess I've been in denial about the lingering effects of what I still believe was a very minor bump on the head.

I worked as a reporter and photographer when injury occurred. Within three years I lost my job due to an irrational outburst directed toward my publisher. Fortunately I had been working part-time as a bartender at a local brew pub. That was my primary source of income for about eight years after that. The pub closed, and I have not been able to find or keep a job for more than a year or so. Lack of drive, lack of focus, almost zero impulse control. That coupled with my really not wanting to deal with people, with preferring to just sit down on the couch to watch reruns of reruns on tv. Little or no interest in family or friends, hobbies, and no follow through. I find it difficult to learn new things. I don't know where I'm going with this.

Where do I find help. Deep down I think I want to get better.

First thing is to see a psychologist and let them possibly refer you to a psychiatrist. What you say here sounds more like depression/anxiety than anything else... Just my humble opinion though.

So I have people who have suffered from concussions saying it sounds like lingering symptoms from brain trauma and others saying it may be anxiety or depression. Thanks for your input. Getting more confused now...

Hi Welcome,
I myself do not have a concussion but my daughter does, 2plus yrs now. FYI depression/anxiety are symptoms of a concussion. There are many here who have dealt with the same issues you write about. Each brain injury is different with different symptoms and different remedies that have worked for others. Seeing a psych. might be what works to help your mtbi.

If you can please look at the vitamin sticky--it's real helpful. I also believe that there is a sticky that others have commented on what has worked for them.

Tell us about your other symptoms which ones are the worst, e.g. headaches, vision, fatigue. We're here to help.

Our best,
