Default TBI/now Chiari

Hi all-can't believe I haven't been here since December of last year. I've continued to have problems after a tbi in July of 2011. The first neuro I saw in August of 2011 basically told me I would continue to improve (at my Oct visit) and left it at that. Fast forward to 2013 and I've continued to have problems. Met with another neuro who has been awesome. Very proactive. I now have new glasses for the visual problems and after an MRI was diagnosed with a Chiari malformation (acquired). I was rear-ended by an overloaded commercial truck while I was sitting still. I was thrown from the front driver's seat in a seatbelt, over the seat and into what there is of a back window. I was driving a 2009 Beetle convertible. Thank God I had the top up that day. Has anyone experienced Chiari after an accident? I checked the chiari section on this site but didn't really see anything similar.

Wow tamisue, I'm so sorry to hear that, but at least now you have some answers!

Has the neuro been able to give you a treatment plan or prognosis? Or any additional info other than diagnosis?

Thanks EsthersDoll!

I've been working with a chiro to try to resolve the chiari. I do not want to have the surg. Have a friend who was a neuro nurse for a number of years who said many times the surg ended up being worse than the actual condition. So-it's a 5mm herniation. Saw neuro today. He said basically it was as good as it was going to get. Chiro has had a little luck with adjustments-but it is not going to cure the herniation as he/neuro hoped. Basically working with chiro from this point forward just to help relieve headaches as much as possible.
