Have any of you experience digestive issues after receiving a head injury? Do certain foods bother you and make you feel bad that used to never cause problems?
I've been talking to a women at the barn were we keep our horses and she been feeling really bad for a couple of months. All of her problems started after after she got her neck/head jarred pretty good while riding - though did not fall off. I'm thinking that maybe she has a whiplash type injury and is suffering from PCS. Many of her symptoms sound very familiar to Jacquie's and what I have read about here - constant fatigue, exercise making things worse, heightened anxiety, possible thyroid issues and others along with the digestive issues. None of the doctors can seem to figure out what's wrong. Last edited by nancys; 05-09-2010 at 03:00 PM. |

I would suggest that she get a thorough check by an upper cervical chiropractor or other chiropractor with experience with TOS and whiplash.
She may be able to find a Physical Therapist with these special skills, too. There are many ways that nerve issues in the neck and upper back can effect how her digestive system works. I have also had digestive problems from dislocating a rib. The ribs that connects to T-3 to T-6 can get dislocated and cause digestion problems. Been there, done that, lost a lot of weight before a chiro found the problem.

After a tbi, some folks find that their saliva glands don't function properly. Saliva contain enzymes necessary for proper digestion. Without enough saliva, tummy trouble can result.

Thanks Hockey. I think one of the doctors she has been seeing did put her on some sort of enzymes to help digestion. I think it's been helping.
