Default Something wrong with my neck?

Hey everyone,

Had a few minor concussions in boxing earlier in January 2013 (no loss of consciousness, just felt slow) that eventually developed into sound sensitivity and impact sensitivity. That has mostly gone away now but I have recently been bumped lightly by a basketball that has brought back the slowness symptom for one day. None of the other symptoms relapsed.

One thing I noticed, both earlier this year during my initial concussion and this time in basketball, is that my neck always makes weird noises and feels sore at the "center". I'm talking about at C1, C2 but in the "center" of the neck not the major muscles at the side. It feels very good to press upon the actual vertebrae. Also yawning, keeping my jaw wide open, bending my head down or up really relieves the neck pain. It also seems to make my vision more clear.

Keep in mind that most of my head traumas have been rotational in nature and I have played violin for my whole life. My neck is permanently tilted to the left because of violin playing and I'm not sure if that pre-disposes me to some sort of upper cervical instability.

Have you been to any expert upper cervical chiropractors?
Some will do additional therapies like ultrasound, IF stim, low level laser etc, that might be helpful.

Hi John. My mistake, I replied to this thread before seeing that you posted on my other thread and thought I deleted it. I gave a more thorough reply to you in my other thread.

I thought things were getting better. I did one set of 8 pushups the other night and was very dizzy after, but it didnt feel worrisome, per say. I asked the athletic therapist, he said its my body getting used to dealing with increased pressure now that the blood flow is back to normal. I was dizzy all night but fine in the morning. Tried another 8 pushups last night and I have that horrible feeling back where I feel like I cant breathe properly. I dont think my brain is ready for the pressure of pushups or compound weight lifting exercises. I think I'm going to buy a stationary bike and just use that for exercise for awhile. I'm fine going for fast paced 45 minute walks, so I dont see why biking would be bad.

How is everything with you?
