I haven't been here for a while. I had to deal with more complication. I know we all have similar symptoms....and then we have the ones that you can't seem to find an article about. I have head pain 24 \7 .....nothing new there. My startle reflexes are out of control. (Very embarrassing) I have had unstable angina now.. So that's new. I wander off sometimes, not physically, just my mind going off without my body. I do have one question about something......I feel as though there is something resting on my head. Its not painful, its just there. I feel to see if it is real. But there is nothing there. I have a phantom hat? My eyes are playing games also, I look because I think I see things.....but they are not there either. Sometimes sounds aren't there. I also have lost some vision seence I had my angina attacks. But what is sitting on my head ? Is it a clue? A minor thing that denotes a clue?

Hello,
Had a concussion 9 months ago and it seems as I improve in one thing, another pops up. For the last few months I've also seen things that are not there when I look again, very freaky. I'll also swear I just got the ketchup bottle out of the fridge, I look and look at it to make sure but when I turn around to look again it's not there or the milk is out, very strange. I also had the feeling something was sitting on my head but not so much now, that passed, had severe headaches for months and now only occasionally, more like a dull ache, pain in back of head... Get back to see your Dr. it's all worth mentioning. Good luck. |

When I was researching binasal occlusion I came across this information on vision hallucinations:
•Visual Hallucinations ◦Visual hallucinations may occur both as formed objects like stars or other recognizable objects or may be unformed as in flashes and spots. The formed images may represent misunderstanding of information in the brain or background "noise" from the disruption of brain tissue that is needed to process the information. ◦A separate but related cause of visual hallucinations is called Charles Bonnet Syndrome. It occurs in patients with significant loss of vision. The hallucinations from Charles Bonnet Syndrome are often very detailed such as a group of people, a truck or an animal. These are not psychotic in nature but simply represent the brains attempt to interpret the impaired information and find a mental image to match the incoming message. I have been trying the binasal occlusion for a few weeks. You put scotch tape on your glasses near your nose which causes you to change the visual information. I have a lot of issues with my eyes but I have never seen something which was not there, I have seen things appear to move which are not moving. Good luck.

Fell off a horse in late winter of 2009 blacked out for a couple seconds, had amnesia for 10 hours (still don't remember this time), had 2 CT scans, 2 MRI's, 1 MRA all negative. Since the first concussion I have continually knocked my head into different things purely by accident or from being stupid. These many concussions over a short period of time have caused constant migraines, nausea, and dizziness/lack of balance. Migraine triggers are: light sensitivity (especially to florescent or bright lights) sound sensitivity (especially to high pitched or loud sounds) temperature sensitivity (especially to cold or extreme heat) activity (especially if breathing increases or head is jostled) pressure on head (sinuses, hats, headbands, sunglasses, pony-tails) lacks or quality (food, sleep, water) tension (stress, tight muscles, tired eyes, sickness) |

I haven't had the feeling of the phantom hat but I do get the sensation that there's water dripping down the back of my head. I touch my head and there's nothing there. Very strange sensation.
My startle reflex is like yours and you're right, it can be embarrassing. I was having the experience of thinking I saw something in my peripheral vision that wasn't there when I moved my head to look at it straight on. That has mostly gone away for me now. No advice because I'm new to all of this too but wanted to let you know that someone else is experiencing some of what you are and you're not crazy. ![]() |
