This discussion is very interesting for me given that one of my main symptoms is pressure. I feel it working out as well as after concentration, but I've also noticed it increasing at times when I otherwise might not be able to explain it. For example, I had a string of 3 really good days (this past Fri, Sat, and Sun). Yesterday, though (Monday), I was feeling ok for the most part until late at night - which is when we started to get rain and storms in my part of the midwest. This was associated with a decrease in barometric pressure and increase in humidity, and it dipped a bit lower today before coming up to the same as yesterday. Similarly, I've had the sensation of needing to pop my ears and being generally unequalized all day today. I'm too much of a scientist to think that these are enough data points for me to draw any conclusions, but it's something I'll be paying attention to in the future.

All of that said, has anyone found any ways to deal with barometric pressure changes - apart from moving? I'm seeing an ENT in a few weeks on the referral of my neurologist, who doesn't seem to have an explanation for why this is happening.

This is something my physiatrist and cognitive therapist have both said is very common among their TBI patients. Unfortunately neither can provide relief.

I have found that accuweather.com is a great resource. You put in your local area and there is a place where you can put in different types of forecasts, for example: allergies, aches & pains, etc. There is a migraine tab you can add. For me it's accurate a little over half the time, but I think everyone's response to pressure changes is different. However, I now know when the weather is going to change with a front coming through, I should plan a lighter day just in case, that way if I get a migraine, it doesn't ruin my whole day as I've already planned on it.

Not sure if that helps any.... but it helps me schedule better.

What Happened: On 3/8/11 I was stopped waiting to merge into traffic when I was rear ended by someone doing 45 mph. I walked away from the accident, to fall into the pit of PCS 5 days later... (I have had 2 previous concussions, but neither developed into PCS.)

Symptoms 3 Years Post: Physical: migraines, infrequent vertigo, neck and back pain (from accident), tinnitus, visual field deficits in left eye, problematic light sensitivity, (including visual seizure activity), noise sensitivity, EXTREME fatigue, semi-frequent disrupted sleep cycles,
Cognitive: semi-frequent Brain fog after cognitive strain, limited bouts of impulsivity, unable to concentrate for more than short periods of time without fatigue, word finding problems, slowed processing speeds, impaired visual memory;
Emotional: easily overstimulated, depression, anxiety;

Treatment so far: Vestibular therapy; Physical Therapy; Vision Therapy; Vitamin Schedule; Limited caffeine; Medications; attempting to limit stress and overstimulation; Yoga; Cognitive Therapy

Thanks for this! Knowing it's coming can at least make it less of a surprise, and I imagine it will be less stressful for me if I know what is causing the symptom. I'm glad it helps you!

About 1000 feet of elevation change seems to help barometric change for me. Also, have thought that swimming, hiking with poles, etc, can help because of the arm/shoulder movement. Not sure if this is just therapy for the muscles involved or if it physically releases some head pressure from the movement. Then again, maybe it is just the increased oxygen and blood flow from the exercise?
