I have a question..I was just out riding my car and the car just stopped all of a sudden while I was going mabe 35 km/h and there was a quick stop and I was a little shaken by it. I am afraid I have once AGAIN concussed my brain..I feel a little nauseaus and just feel like I can't handle one more concussion..Would this incident be called a concussion or a decompensation? Should I go to the doctor?

I'd call it a decompensation with a good dose of anxiety to make your symptoms worse. You may have also caused a bit of whiplash in your neck. Icing it may help.

Asking the dumb question what is decompensation?

The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily. Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well. Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off) Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath |

Decompensation is a return of symptoms from the original injury/illness. You could also say Relapse.

Thank you Mark for answering! The nausea subsided later in the evening and I was left with just some tingling on my head so I hope my head is pretty ok. Life after pcs is really hard I must say, no matter how careful you are your head suffers from just daily life. How do you cope with the constant risk of injury without stopping your life altogether? Do you constantly think of what you do to avoid small accidents?
