Well I went to the worker comp doctor. According to him I have just PCS. My neck hurts due to my headaches. My headaches, dizziness, nausea, and fogginess becoming worse is normal nothing to worry about. Vomiting is normal from headaches.

My ear drum is ruptured but no biggie it will heal up within 30 days. My PCS will be gone by 5/27 so he will probally release me on 5/28

I'm not happy. He said no need for a neurologist. He said he could tell I was fine, with no brain injury and none of it would be permanent or long term.

What do I do? I don't trust this guy at all!!!

You are 100% right not to trust this idiot.

You have PCS, but you don't have a brain injury? That's like saying your leg is broken, but you don't have a fracture.

He can predict, to the day, when your PCS will be gone?!? Then he's a psychic, not a physician. Nobody knows that. No reputable doctor would dream of making such an unqualified statement about your possible recovery - let alone attaching a date to it. Unbelievable!!!

Don't hesitate, get another doctor, pronto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My new plan in life may be to see that all WC 'docs' have their license revoked!!

I am so sorry... and as you will find here from those of us that are 'new' to this that being 'new' means that we have been dealing with this for at least a few months... me personally, accident was on January 12th... I will go to the neuro tomorrow and my guess is that I will STILL not be released to go back to work and I sit at a desk all day...

I would encourage you if possible to see a neurologist... get a scan and make sure nothing bigger is going on...

My damage was caused by 'contre-coup' injury. Below is a link to a you tube vide showing what happens inside your head when your head is whipped back and forth.

My neuropsych said on a level they can't see, cells are stretched, torn, twisted and chemicals leak in and out of them. I don't completely understand it all or remember all I've been taught about it, but there are very knowledgable people here to help you.

My head went many different directions as there were multiple impacts during my car accident. It's been 18 months today and I can't function normally. What you are experiencing is real and so hard emotionally, mentally, and physically. Do not doubt yourself.

Your workmans comp doctor is the same as my 12 year old diagnosing you. Actually worse, my 12 year old has a brain injury and knows what it's like. The doctor is ignorant of a brain injury and can do MUCH damage to you than help or is trying to save $. Go to a neurologist!!! A very good one that handles brain injuries. You have a brain injury.

It CAN cause PERMANENT damage or you may end up healed but it's not like a broken arm. Brain injuries take a long time to heal.

Lean on people here. If you have someone to help you have them read up on here too. It's hard to understand what it's like if you've never had a brain injury.

Peace and wellness:),

Jace

Sorry if I seem agitated...your doctor lit my nerves!

Thanks for all your support.

I put in a request for a new doctor, in fl I read I can request 1 change only. But what if the new doc is the same way? Then what? I'm 30 minutes from UF why wouldn't they send me there?

I'm also contacting a attorney!

Help please, I need to be covered and paid by WC I'm 26 yr old male with a wife and 2 kids depending on me!!

SarahSmile0205 05-21-2014 08:23 AM

Can you request going to UF?

I think an attorney is a good move!

I know you are worried and stressed and you may want to smack me when I say this... but please, try not to get too stressed... it will only make it worse... (heck, I want to smack me for saying that) but it is true... I am very nervous, anxious about my apt tomorrow... and I am paying for it..

Like Hockey said... advocate for yourself, demand things like scans if you have to... the only way you are going to help your family is to get better and to do that you need the best care you can get...

I hate lawyers - but you need one or WC WILL screw you. Comp doctors aren't selected because they are good patient advocates.

I guess, thankfully, the rules are different in the States. In Canada, accepting any Workers' Comp negates your right to litigate. How evil is that?

Thank you all.

I feel helpless, scared and like it's all against me. I just want to be diagnosed and get better! The WC lady did not like my request not sure what they are going to do.

But I spent awhile on the phone (killed my head, I'm so nauseated) but I now have a lawyer (gotta sign and make a contract but we are good).

He was able to advise me and assured me that if WC didn't get me checked out that he would!

All I can think is why me? I try to be a good person!

On a side note!

This forum has been a great source of advice, everyone here has been so supportive! It's bittersweet because I really like reading and learning here but it hurts sooo bad! My wife tries to understand but my kids don't. (2yr old boy, 6 yr old girl) voice text helps a lot!

I'm not sure what I can do. I was advised in FL I don't have a choice on doctors and I only get 1 change request! I was told if I seek outside care of my own it would compromise the entire case.

At this point I'm to contact the lawyer about any changes or appts. He really seemed to care!

Not stress? Are you crazy! That's all I can do and it's killing me! I went to take a drink out of a glass coke cup, lost my perception and slammed the cup into my tooth! Is that normal? Normal to lose your depth perception?
