Default Therapy dogs @ Brain Injury support group last night

Good Morning Everyone,

I joined a brain injury support group (a live one not online) and went to my first meeting last night.

They had a therapy dog group there as guest speakers. One of the dogs sang. There were golden retrievers, a boxer, and a chihuahua in a wheel chair. They told us all about what there group does and we met the dogs.

One gal in my group takes her dog to places, she's a member of their group. They meet with schools, at libraries, nursing homes and are looking to expand. They have many requests.

They never go alone, it's always a group of them. One of the women lives in my town! She has subbed at my school and recognized me. I am going to join her for one of the library trips. She said that's a pretty quiet environment.

The woman that started the brain injury support group has been emailing me for a while. She's so pleasant and her daughter too. The daughter has a brain injury but is 10 years out from hers. Our stories ar so similar. She could relate to all the things we talked about.

She can't work but she does drive now and volunteers with her dog. It was extremely uplifting to meet someone like me. Exhausting, but I haven't stopped smiling since last night.

I'm so glad I took the chance and went. I've made new friends in a safe environment and have events to look forward to.

Jace.

I LOVE dogs. They are great treatment for PTSD, anxiety, loneliness, etc... I'd take a Pug over Prozac, any day.
